Things are progressing better now and possibility that the engine will be fired up tomorrow. Hopefully it will be back before we hit the 9 week point on Saturday.

I’m glad I ventured into the L405 section. It’s been an education. Well done Graeme. I’ve seen another vid of a D4 also with a runaway motor. ______________________________

Good news in that the engine has run today. However not running correctly due to blocked DPF and cat system in the exhaust system which is probably due to running on oil? Suspect this is going to go into week 10 now.

Late to this but my Disco2 failed like this. Porous engine block - if you got beyond 70k miles you didn't have it. Drank its own oil, engine ran away, clouds of white smoke. Kaput. Got it fixed then got a D3....then an L322, then the L405. 17 MY Corris Grey 4.4 VAB

Week 11 tomorrow. Cats and DPF filter now replaced but new engine not running very well. Now looks like a faulty injector so waiting for parts again! Suspect it’s going to be 2019 before I get it back now.

Now in week 14 and had the car back briefly last week. Car vibrates at 1200-1400 revs at constant speed. If change down a gear this vibration stops. Any Ideas?

Finally after 17 weeks (tomorrow) got the car back again and the new engine now appears to be working correctly.

All injectors have now been replaced after testing found them all to be faulty/out of spec.

Another large invoice!

Lets hope this is the end of the saga, nice to have it back.

Didn’t the new motor include injectors or was it a bare block? ______________________________

No, injectors not supplied with bare engine which in the end were all either faulty or out of spec when tested. Tips damaged running on engine oil. There are apparently no Land Rober tests to test injectors on the engine.

Bare engine , new turbos , intercoolers , DPF. Cats plus lots of other parts fitted.
