I'm having my gearbox megaflushed by the great Bodsy this weekend
Purely precautionary as its done 84K and I'm very much a proactive maintenance person....

Im not sure where i read it but i'm sure ZF recommend the drain and fill method and not the flush.

Sealed for life is one thing to be ignored but a mega flush is not something I would do. ZF don't suggest this so thats good enough for me. A completed filter and fluid change should be more than enough for a seed for life unit.

It reminds me of the olden days in the 80's / 90's when I used to put a flush through during oil changes on my Sierras and Escorts - In hindsight I believe they created more problems than they solved. 405 AB exec seats Baltic and Cirrus

Changed my gearbox oil today... I spoke to the boss at Bristol Transmissions and they won't flush them! He says "its too much trouble" His words not mine! Hence why i changed my oil & filter today...

I didn't ask, I'm guessing the problem would be keeping the temperature up to keep the stat open?

Keeping the stat open is easy.

It's waiting 4 hours on the gearbox cooling down to ensure the oil level is correct that's the frustrating part

Why do you need to wait 4hrs Mikey, do the temps get that high that quickly?
