Unless you have a very rare fattie indeed there is no clutch as it’s automatic.

I would be inclined to go for a drive to get it to happen, stick it on max height, and have a crawl and sniff, see if you can narrow it down that way to at least a general location.

its a 06 , 4.2 sc its not just the smell i also lose power with a clater sort of noise which is much worse if i put it into sport mode ,could it be the cat . i am not sure if the cat would smell when i put my foot down but the sound seems to be from that area , cheers rob |

Since it is Supercharged I would therefore suggest you have a good look at the drive belt.

Clattery noise , lack of power and burning smell are not good combinations but I would expect some codes if transmission related.

Suggest you Get it to a garage for accurate diagnosis before it becomes undriveable ... it ain’t going to improve 4.2 SC - sold , now bought back
