Fairy lights round Headlights (DRLs - not)

Well thanks to Stan and the IDTool I got the fairy lights round the headlights to come on with the ignition, I know they are not DRLs but I like the look and Christmas is coming so fairy lights are appropriate. Very Happy Geoff

I had to wait until it was dark:

Engine running no other lights on.

Perfect Thumbs Up Geoff

Looks good Thumbs Up

Do all the 2010-12 models have these lights, and do they all need turning on using the IIDTool? I rather like them too...

Chris

I assume they’re just for effect rather than any functional use?

Hi Geoff - I quite like the idea of these coming on with the ignition.

What setting did you change to achieve this?

Cheers, Mark

Carpcat, they are the normal front sidelights...... set to come on with ignition.

I just turn my sidelights on if I want them.

I like them on. You’d never use them if you left the lights on Auto though.....

You can use the sidelight switch but that will also turn on the rear lights as well, however if you don't want this and you just want the front side lights to come on with the ignition and with the light switch set to off simply use the IIDTool to turn on DRLs and also enabled both Scandinavian and Canadian modes. Worked for me. Geoff

Indeed, I was more replying to the query about them being for effect than anything else. If you don’t have a 2010 onwards, you might not realise they are the front sidelights that was all.

I always have my lights on auto so this probably explains why I’ve never seen them....what happens if you turn them on with ignition using the IID Tool and turn the light switch to Auto? Do the fairy lights still light up or do you need the switch turned to off still? Chris

Auto just works as normal, fairy lights just stay on all the time. Geoff

I used the IID tool to turn on the dipped beam headlights as DRL's.....the fairy lights are pretty weak for a DRL.

The light switch is left on auto, so I know people can always see me.

DRL were made law in 2011 so all vehicles have to have them fitted , I guess LR decided to get in early , I really like them on cars but we were big Volvo fans when I was growing up so that may explain that Laughing

Driving the car today, everything fine fairy lights on but when the dipped headlights automatically switched on - they stayed on (tail lights went out) , so a bit more work to do. Very Happy Very Happy Geoff
