Water restrictions here (Cape Town SA) so ban on car washing unless at a commercial drive thru with mechanical washer and using recycled water!
reckon it'll do more damage than good.

Stripped and cleaned the oil cooler and replaced both gaskets.

Spent an hour or so fishing the oil out of the coolant........time will tell if i've been successful and if not will ask Dan if he'll swap my first-born for a replacement oil cooler Thumbs Up

Come to think on it; I was more nervous starting the car up afterwards than I was when the first-born arrived Rolling with laughter

Yesterday, collected our Topper and windsurfer, along with masts and rigging for two other boats, and folding launching trolley, along with two passengers. Booms and split masts fitted nicely diagonally from the dashboard to the boot area! Took longer to tie everything on than it did to drive home!

I almost always use chemicalguys Eco wash quick detailer to clean my car, with spray bottle and 2 or 3 microfibre towels. The wheels is the last thing I do as they get dirtiest.

It's great for water restrictions as no hose or bucket used. ______________________________

Managed something technical today which I've been putting off because of the bad weather. Smile

It's not really that technical to some of the stuff you guys do, but it was bugging me and therefore needed sorting out.

A post external trim panels. They never really lined up at the top properly and, having had a good poke around, it became pretty obvious why. The little internal clips were just not gripping, causing the trim to pull away from the screen so, after removing one to find out exactly what I needed (and being gutted that I didn't have anything to fit), I made the trip to my local dealers.

£32.83 lighter, and with my little plastic bag full of clips, I came back home and refitted everything. After a lot of cleaning under the trim. I bought both the white internal clips and the black push pins. I have some plastic rivets which "may" have fitted, though for the price I thought I may as well just go with the genuine ones.

The trims now look as they should be and there's no gap anymore, so all being well they will last a good while. I never really noticed much wind noise before, which is apparently a common sign of them failing, though I don't do a great deal of motorway stuff anyway. Hopefully there won't be any now... Dave

Fitted new rear brake pads and sensor because check control light came on for 'check pads' Quick look around showed it was the rears that were most worn.

Except that wasn't what was causing the check control warning to come on! Damn pads were only just over 50% worn, turned out the front sensor cable had managed to get itself unclipped and had worked into a position where the cable rubbed on the inside of the road wheel, causing it to short and throw the warning. So I bought and fitted pads that didn't need doing and I still have have the warning. New sensor ordered.

I could, but at least it's got new pads on now. When I saw the pads weren't worn out (to be fair they were actually about 60 - 70% worn when I looked again, not just over 50%) I still did the job in case the sensor wire at the rear was faulty. It wasn't, it was the front. Never mind. Drives:
