It might be worth getting the turbo air change over valve checked.

Could it be slight degradation / split in one of the hoses from intercooler to inlet manifold? They're well known for failing (on 3.6 TDV8, anyway - can't see why it would be any different on a 4.4). The top two hoses are fairly easy to get at and inspect. My thinking being that a split might only open up under pressure, which would explain 3k trouble-free miles between problem.

Hi Steve, good point, although it is used hard between the 3k miles so i am not sure as its not a consistent fault. will check the hoses. Cheers

I had a similar issue last year whilst in France and it turned out to be a cracked inlet manifold. The French mechanic demonstrated it by standing on the accelerator whilst I held my hand over the manifold. Lots of air escaping from the split manifold. It appears the split only caused an issue when the car was on a long climb with the caravan on the back, I.e. Under load. |

cheers Buzz, that has been suggested previously and your comments help reassure this. was that on a 4.4? i am aware of is it being a problem with the 4.4s Cheers
