This was my original, actually had the presence of mind to take a photo before the Autoglass guys arrived:
All the numbers are the same just the Land Rover ellipse and the heated and "ear" etchings on the original.

The big number in the middle is the part No. so long as this matches then the screen should be the same. The non acoustic and earlier screens can have different numbers.

Mine on the 2012 is the same as geoff's, incl the ear and heat symbol. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Does the 2004 model have acoustic glass? I can't see any such symbols on the screen.

I ask as my screen was broken last week and I want the (Australian) insurance company to fit the right screen. They are notorious for having Chinese glass fitted by their preferred fitting company, O'Brien Autoglass - they did a crappy job on my P38A and I don't want them touching the L322.

If the glass is acoustic, I have a better chance of getting Pilkington as the Chinese suppliers don't, apparently, do an acoustic glass. Ron B. VK2OTC

I checked the windscreen on my late 2004 (2005 model year) and it has the acoustic sign (LR branded) 1260-1

Hope it helps Tom

I wonder. Mine doesn't have the -1 so I really don't know.

I'd like to know as it's being replaced tomorrow under my windscreen insurance. Ron B. VK2OTC

Right chaps I had my screen replaced just before the car went, and being the annoying git that I am, instead of leaving the chap from National Windscreens to get on with it in the cold, I stayed and chatted to him and lent a hand where needed..

A very nice chap and it turned out a D2 owner Very Happy

He told me that the earlier (BMW) cars were easier to do as the plastic trim is a lot stronger than the later cars.. He fitted a new top seal, as apparently they never go back well when trying to recycle, and he put a thin bead of sealer / glue along the bottom of the windscreen to bed the lower trim panel (the bit that the wipers poke through) on... Apparently if you don't do this the wind gets under it a you have the whistling noise that a few have commented on Rolling Eyes

And when I say bottom of the windscreen I mean the same face as the wipers sit on, but right at the bottom edge Thumbs Up Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

Mine was replaced last Saturday. Wind noise was quite noticeable on the motorway. Also, it's raining today and I've found the rain-sensing doesn't work.

Gaaahhh!! Back to the glass fitters (for Aussies, it's O'Brien).

The screen is an XYG brand (Chinese), non-acoustic glass. I don't think the original was acoustic glass.

They didn't fit a new upper trim strip. I've booked it in for next Saturday and told them it will need a new upper strip - which I'm sure they'll ignore. Ron B. VK2OTC

I personally wouldn't touch Autoglass with a barge pole. They did mine, this time last year. It was an insurance claim via Admiral.

The finished job was fine and didn't leak and heating elements and sensors all work fine. Getting there was problematic to say the least.

Fist van turned up with the "boy". He told me he was waiting for the experienced fitter and would get on with taking the screen out. I said wait, which he did for half an hour then he started without the experienced guy. During that process he damaged the scuttle, lost one of the windscreen wiper nuts and put grubby mitt marks on the A pillar inside. All denied, except the lost nut, until I pointed out the CCTV camera looking at the drive. Different attitude then. They blamed each other.

They wanted me to sign to say the job was acceptable. I didn't because it wasn't. Their credit card machine wouldn't work so they wanted cash. They were told to go forth etc. There report, which was emailed to me later included none of this info. Perhaps they expected it to go away. It didn't.

I called Admiral and then Autoglass. I eventually got an agreement form someone senior in Autoglass to waive the excess and pay £100 for the trouble caused and the cost of the replacement wiper nut, which incidentally, was found on the under tray, the following day when the car was serviced. The senior person omitted to put half the agreement in his letter and then wouldn't answer my calls.

Eventually, Admiral got the agreement reinstated and I eventually got the payment and the excess waived. It has to be said that Admiral only got off the ass when I chased them and Autoglass never got off their ass.

I would never use Autoglass again. 2017 5.0 Autobiography Supercharged

How big do chips have to be before insurance will replace the screen? I have a couple on the drivers side, inside the area swept by the wipers.
