Air Suspenion Issue

Good Morning All,

I have an issue with my EAS. When we have a cold snap I get "Air Suspension Inactive" This only happens when its Cold.

I then reset the fault and all is well. Fault found is reservoir not filling. Anyway fault cleared until the next Frost.

Does anyone know which part of the system is affected or is it all of it.

Thank you in advance.

I'm not 100% sure but I've heard something about crystals, or something similar in the compressor get damp, i.e. When there's a frost they block the air or something? I think they're meant to dry the air. May be worth a look!

Stacker,

Thanks for the quick reply.

Do you think that I may need a new compressor?

I don't think so!

As I said I'm not a hundred percent sure, I expect someone will be along later who knows a bit more.

I'm sure the balls (maybe they aren't crystals) can be replaced, I think you can buy replacements!

Some info on this thread:
http://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic40113....compressor

If the granules are too far gone you can get replacements for them. A search on the bay of es comes up with suppliers. John

Yes but there is nothing more annoying than posting a reply and it being apparent that the thread hasn't been read. Whistle

Air Suspension UPDATE!!

As per all the suggestions on here (Thank you). I have carried out the service of the Air Compressor on my L322.

I have changed the Piston Ring, O Ring & the Dessicant in the dryer.

Fired it up cleared the codes Compressor starts then i get an error "Air Suspension Inactive". I plugged in my diagnostic and the only fault coming up was 'Reservoir static".

Cleared this error and again error comes up.

All connections are good i even left the air pipe off from where it links into the cars suspension just to see if any air was coming out and it was although i did think it should have been a bit more powerful than it was, i mean i could put my finger over the end of the pipe. I am not sure what pressure should be coming from the compressor.

The car is now sitting with about 70mm gap between tyre and wheel arch at the front and it looks slammed down at the back.
I have read that the it could be the Air Suspension Solenoid which is around (£450) and i was wondering could this be down to something else before i order the part i think it is?.

If the pump is running is it getting hot? The seal may take a time to 'bed'in - Mine got very hot 130c cut out and restatred when cooled off. for some time before it settled down

If running - When I did mine, I seem to remember conecting it up the wrong way - input / output - (it didn't work) Embarassed may cause a sim issue?

My indi told me that the pump is quite low pressure and you can put yourthumb over the outlet to check it's working.

Cheers

Simon

Simon,

Thank you for your reply and wisdom.

The pump did run Hot, so i removed it again in fact i have removed the pump four times checking all hoses and also check that the piston ring was in the correct way.

The car has had the reset done each time the pump was re attached and at least 3 or 4 times after each connection.

Any ideas welcome.

I did the very same with mine, replaced piston seal and granules plugged it back in and it still wouldn't build up pressure.. in the end the piston chamber was too far gone(scored) to even be able to work after my prior repairs.. looks like it could be a replacement compressor for you..
