Battery Recommendations

Gents,

grateful for advice on a replacement battery for my car. I have a Dec 06 3.6 TDV8 Vogue.

The genuine battery is circa £250 which sounds like a lot but if its the best I'll go for it. Or are the Bosch ones etc a better bet?

Thanks in advance

Jase

The Bosch S5 Battery seems to be pretty high spec. Would the cranking power be greater than the genuine battery though?

There have been loads of threads on this one.

Cam-Tech-Craig was always an advocate of the genuine approved battery - for the best reliability.

On my 3.6 I had a Bosch S5 - which I bought from Euro Car Parts - it failed something like 4 years later - they replaced it without question (I still had the receipt) - so I was happy

The Bosch does seem to have a high failure rate

Also - try searching Thumbs Up

Jase

I have an unused Bosch S5 you can have for £50 quid if you fancy a drive over to Brighton.
Bought last year...never used as it is the wrong battery for my RR which requires an AGM.
It has been regularly topped up by a CTEK charger to keep it in good condition.

Euro car parts have got a sale on at the moment running through January so might be worth a look on their website

Bosch S5 020 110ah or Varta S5 020 (610 200) - just fitted the Varta to my 06 TD6. From previous threads seems the Varta is what LR use as OE but looks identical to the Bosch (which is what it replaced on mine)

Mine was bought from Tayna who I have used a couple of times for batteries, they were about the cheapest and give you next day delivery and the 5 year warranty. Not as convenient as your local ECP but even with the 60% Christmas discount they were still working out at £150~ the Tayna one was about £110~

If you do look at ECP make sure you are looking at the S5 020 - they also list a S5 019 for our cars but it is lower amp hours (90 IIRC)

Cheers,

MM

The Bosch and the Varta are exactly the same, made in the same factory - Bosch does not have its own battery factory 2007 Zermatt Silver TDV8 Vogue SE - now sold but was a great car!

Can you categorically affirm they are the same ? Do you work for one of the companies ? Being made in the same factory is not the same thing - there are many things made in the same factory, but with different components or to different specifications.

@SKOT - thats an 019, only 95Ah not 110Ah, also at £159 it is more expensive.

Cheers,

MM
