has anyone ever mod'ed front indicators ?

has anyone seen, got, made an alternative front indicator's for the early l322 ? I guess that a ballast risitor would be needed for LED conversions but I cannot find for love nor money an alternative part anywhere

Generally as long as you get canbus led bulbs then there isn't a need for ballast resistors ( that I've found so far ) V8 or else ...

Yes last image is photoshopped, i did buy an old cluster and tried to open it up but i think the only way would be to use a mini circular saw on a dremel and cut it open but would need to keep it cool with water as the plastic just melted when i tried but i did use an abrasive wheel rather than a saw with teeth. i have seen a few write ups on the L405 conversion to the L322...

I'll save you some Big Cry

I thought that clear indicators would be a fantastic conversion on my ffrr.... I had a spare front light unit and a broken light unit, so I set upon them with a Stanley knife and removed the clear lens from one and the amber one from the other....I felt a swap coming on Mr. Green and then I found out that the amber lens is a different size to the clear one, D'OH!! I can't remember which is the smaller, but the end result is the clear side light lens wont fit in place of the amber lens Banging Head Banging Head Big Cry Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Do the lenses come out from the back then, i can't remember?
I bet i could make that white one fit where the orange one goes with a little modification and then just an orange bulb i guess ?

Whistle It's rather involved to get at the blighter's.....

First cut / separate the clear outer lens, then you have to remove the chrome shell that is on top of the lens, and then if you haven't broken anything you can get at the amber / clear lens... the 2 chromed shells are not interchangeable Sad

The only way I can see of doing it is to cut the rim off the amber lens and then reduce the clear lens and bond it to the amber ring.... as the plastic is only 2mm thick I sort of decided that I would give up before it was all consigned to the bin Shocked Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Blow that, i tried separating the outer cover when i looked into painting the internals black and opted to painting the outside instead.
I think if i had a stack of lenses to practice on I could devise a method but then again i could just live with the orange which i don't mind really

They are a pain, look at most other cars including x5's you can get an array of after market lights Leds creeds fronts and backs, range rover pretty much nothing apart from side indicators Sad
