United States 2006 Range Rover HSE 4.4 V8 Zambezi Silver
Bsttery Issue two

Today I replaced my Land Rover battery with an Exide L5/9X. I live on an Island Near Seattle and at times taker the ferry, an 18 minute ride. I park and leave the key in the ignition. When it is time to exit the ferry, it is slow to start and on one occasion had to be jumped by the ferry workers. I immediately went to the O'Reillys expecting to replace the battery and they said it did not need to be replaced, but rather a full charge which I did when I returned home. The last time that I took the ferry, I removed the key from the ignition and it started normally and immediately as it always does. I simply turn the key and release it and it starts immediately. This car sits outside all winter and as a precaution, I decided to replace the battery even though I have had no other instances of the car not starting.

When I removed the battery and took it to the bench for testing. it read 12.42V. The new battery read 12.5. Before buying the new battery, I went to AutoZone and had the test the old battery and they said it read 12.,3v and tested weak and needed replacement. I then went to O'jReilly's (another store) and was told that jthe battery was too weak to be tested. jAgain, I had no starting issues. Since Home Depot had the Excide Extreme for $109, I bought it and installed it. I am now wondering if I had other issues to begin with. All thoughts appreciated. 2006 Range Rover HSE 4.4L Jag Engine Zambezi Silver/Charcoal Leather

Australia 2008 Range Rover Supercharged 4.2 SC V8 Rimini Red

If you leave the key in the ignition the car is going to stay awake , that means 30 odd ECU's all powered up and draining the battery . I think they will force themselves to shut down after a while like 10 minutes or so but by then the damage would have been done . 2008 MY Supercharged

Have you had the output of your alternator checked?

Thanks for both of your responses. This morning I went to the local NAPA auto store and had both batteries and the alternator tested. As expected, the new battery having a CCA rating of 900, tested about 985. The old battery having a ratng of 850,m was just over 400. I was surprised in that my Rover always cranked with ease.

For the first time, I felt that I got a good check of the Alternator. With the headlights on bright, the blower on high, and the engine revving, he got a reading of 13.5. With normal idling, it read 14.2.

Now I am comfortable that I am ready for this winter. Again, thanks for your thoughts., 2006 Range Rover HSE 4.4L Jag Engine Zambezi Silver/Charcoal Leather
