L322 drivers window stuck down

A couple of tips that may help in emergency, my window stuck down and fortunately on the way back from business 300 miles with the window down but at least it was mild!

The bulkhead to door connector, grease all around the rubber gaitor with vaseline these are obviously prone to water ingress and subsequent intermittent electrical contact. Could be the culpritt.

The door card does come off relatively easily and then you can test the motor. On the switch assembly take off the connector with four thick wires, the motor is supplied by the two black striped wires green and white. Supply 12 vdc via an external fused source, reverse polarity to drive motor in the up direction. If motor works ok then the fault is likely in the switch box mine has been dismantled and wear is evident on TV remote type rubber membrane switch under the rocker switches, evidence of water is also a problem.
I shall post pics if I get time. This could allow you to secure your vehicle if you are ever in the same unfortunate position.

When my rear O/S stopped closing, the motor was fine. The culprit was a cheap plastic "plug/Stopper" which holds the wires into the roller mechanism. This came out and thus the wire could not run/pull the window. Needed to change the whole Arm regulator. Easy enough. there are a couple on Ebay for c. £22 which is good. I Paid £30 for mine.

Ps best not to use Vaseline on the rubber as it is petroleum based and can rot the rubber - use glycerine or silicone instead.

Oops I knew that. Its on now, probably the last bit to disintegrate hopefully. Still not certain what the cause is had to put back together due to weather . I think its a relay in the switch box
Pics attached of two wires that drive motor back up. Evil or Very Mad

Its the black striped pair that supply motor.

It's quite normal for this to happen, your FFRR knows it's about to rain or snow so like to let you know who the boss is Whistle Whistle

Got the switch box open 'these doors are over engineered,' phrase comes to mind.
Any ideas, its not the membrane up switch proved it. Its not the motor proved it.
Any sensor that would inhibit up command? Going to check relay it doesnt click when up pressed.

Did you get any further with finding the cause? Mine has just done exactly the same and wouldn't go back up, used your info to force the motor back up so that it's secure and water tight.

Couldn't do any more checking as it's pitch black out there now.

Had mine go 185 miles away from home over Xmas. Worked out that the electronics in the switch pack had gone fubar. Managed to get a used one locally as they are nearly £200 from the dealers. Regards

is there an inhibitor strip on the upper door frame which could be damaged, the ones which detect something stuck in the window and prevent them closing? On the latter cars it seems to work on pressure on the glass, but i seem to recall there being one on my 08my. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Ive been looking at the control box and cannot find the problem. I am going to track down a second hand one and substitute. I cannot see a strip in the frame but feel less than confident that it cannot be a safety sensor shorted?

I also tested mine with the auto closure as in theory that should have said if it was the switch or not and it still didn't work. Window goes down fine with both auto close and on the switch but won't go up.

All other windows / mirrors etc work fine from the same switch panel on the drivers door. Anybody know how to test or disable the anti-trap sensor?

That's what i was trying to say, it doesn't. All other windows roll up on the auto close, the drivers window just sits in the same position.

I was thinking similar when I first read this thread .
On your old 530 you should have been able to bang down on the top of the glass to stop it going up .

I have no idea , but would wager the rover has a similar sensor to stop you accidentally chocking yourself Laughing

Your last mine concurs, me thinks a sensor input is holding window down. Will have to try a substitute control box. Windscreen wipers playing up now also Big Cry

I tried to bypass the anti-trap sensor earlier. Both by just disconnecting it and also by grounding it out, neither worked. I took the switch apart hoping to see a dry joint or something but all looks good in there too, so think it's going to be a new switch Sad
