When my rear O/S stopped closing, the motor was fine. The culprit was a cheap plastic "plug/Stopper" which holds the wires into the roller mechanism. This came out and thus the wire could not run/pull the window. Needed to change the whole Arm regulator. Easy enough. there are a couple on Ebay for c. £22 which is good. I Paid £30 for mine.

Oops I knew that. Its on now, probably the last bit to disintegrate hopefully. Still not certain what the cause is had to put back together due to weather . I think its a relay in the switch box

It's quite normal for this to happen, your FFRR knows it's about to rain or snow so like to let you know who the boss is |

Got the switch box open 'these doors are over engineered,' phrase comes to mind.

Did you get any further with finding the cause? Mine has just done exactly the same and wouldn't go back up, used your info to force the motor back up so that it's secure and water tight.

Had mine go 185 miles away from home over Xmas. Worked out that the electronics in the switch pack had gone fubar. Managed to get a used one locally as they are nearly £200 from the dealers. Regards

is there an inhibitor strip on the upper door frame which could be damaged, the ones which detect something stuck in the window and prevent them closing? On the latter cars it seems to work on pressure on the glass, but i seem to recall there being one on my 08my. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Ive been looking at the control box and cannot find the problem. I am going to track down a second hand one and substitute. I cannot see a strip in the frame but feel less than confident that it cannot be a safety sensor shorted? |

I also tested mine with the auto closure as in theory that should have said if it was the switch or not and it still didn't work. Window goes down fine with both auto close and on the switch but won't go up.

Try holding the lock button and see if the car will auto close all windows and close it for you Current vehicles

That's what i was trying to say, it doesn't. All other windows roll up on the auto close, the drivers window just sits in the same position. |

I was thinking similar when I first read this thread . On your old 530 you should have been able to bang down on the top of the glass to stop it going up . I have no idea , but would wager the rover has a similar sensor to stop you accidentally chocking yourself |

I tried to bypass the anti-trap sensor earlier. Both by just disconnecting it and also by grounding it out, neither worked. I took the switch apart hoping to see a dry joint or something but all looks good in there too, so think it's going to be a new switch |
