wheel bearing

Ok lads, I've read up on quite a few topics and peeps who have attempted the front wheel bearings.
now does anyone know if the air strut has to be deflated?. Or is it a case of letting it hang when undone.
Would be very grateful for any advice or opinions. Have also read my workshop rave and it doesn't say anything.
cheers in advance. Thumbs Up
greg.

Jack up and prop the chassis, then you can also put a jack or stand under the hub to bear a little bit of the weight so that it stays in place better. If the strut and hub just hang, they can move about a bit when trying to put force on nuts and bolts. V8 or else ...

Thank you lads. Will probably have a go myself then.
I've got the bearing circlip and hub nut and was deciding weather to get a new knuckle and save the hassle of getting the old bearing out.
I've also seen a bearing dust shield, is this needed ?. And is it wise to have new bolts for the strut to hub.
Thanks again.
Greg. Thumbs Up

New bolts are essential as they will almost certainly be seized and need a huge whack to move them!!! SO, with that in mind! Think twice about your abilities before you tackle such a task sir!

You will then have to remove and refit the drive shaft from the hub! That in itself can be a HUGE task dependant an how seized/corroded it is and your ability sir...

PLEASE don’t think I’m trying to put anyone off their own maintenance guys... Just trying to let the OP know the severity of this task... Thumbs Up Bow down Bow down Bow down

Thanks for the heads up craig. I may use an indy I have known quite a few years. Have given him a call and he said he had done one only yesterday took them about 3/4hrs all depends how it comes apart.
so worst case scenario could be upto £150 labour.
Thumbs Up

As Craig says, getting drive shaft out is a pain,
getting it back in without the proper tool is virtually impossible... Pete
