In the spare wheel well at the back you will find the loom going to the boot, the reversing wire is the white/yellow wire, there are two, doesn't matter which...

The lighting should have been delt with by the can bus box, yours is probably an earlier one and needs wiring direct, it's the Black/Blue wire going to the rear light, it's in the side at the back where you have been working, going to the rear light...

As for the aerial I've no idea, worth checking that the head unit is putting 12volts to the aerial amplifier when switched on.

Thumbs Up Pete

Thank you very much Pete - I really appreciate your response.

I assume my CanBus must be an older version or for a different BMW series since the audio related buttons on the steering don't work either. I could try and order a CanBus "reader" from Avin, but would you have any idea which BMW model (E-which model) my car could be based on. My Android unit is for a 5 Series E39, M5 and X5 E53.

Check this connection for the canbus box, is it OK and is it to the right wire as there are several a similar colour...

Canbus to the green wire from unit, connect to the white/slate(grey)/yellow wire in pin 9 in the radio plug

Check the can bus box is plugged into the lead OK...

Here you go with the aerial... all this info is in the manual in the WIKI..

United Kingdom 2002 Range Rover HSE Td6 Baltic Blue

Good evening all,

New Range Rover HSE 02 owner, so far loving the RR experience.

As my first "project" ive embarked on the head unit upgrade. Got all from Crystal, and started the challenge today. Got all the old bits out the boot, think that probably the easiest part. I am some what confused with the wiring though. The 6 meter extension cable i have, is different, and also the, what i believe are the correct 3 wires to chop up, seem a little different aswell.

I promise ive done my best not to ask a stupid question, but can you guys advise (a) if i am looking at the right cables, and (b) advise of the difference if at all possible ?

Ive really enjoyed reading through all the related forum posts to this project, and hoped i would pop my cherry of first post with a successful install, but have failed Sad

Below pics are the cable from Crystal, and the 3 cables from ICE and AMP

Need a pic of the entire lead and close ups of the ends, both sides of the plugs, showing wires and plugs... That lead looks like they have changed it, also a picture of the wiring diagram.... Pete

Hey Pete,

Thanks for getting back to me. All finished now ( well mostly ), i actually adopter the theory of i would just colour match. I worked out the the one plug was all the speaker cables, and the other was the remaining ones . . . hopefully that insight will help someone else Smile

As others have said, although it might seem daunting, and to be far it did take me 3 days, but it really is pretty simple, and a huge upgrade.

An I.C.E. shop will fit this for you but I have heard of them wanting up to £700 for doing it...

I'm not a site sponsor so can't advertise on here, but you are welcome to PM me and I will try to help out.... Pete

Newbie, Please help !

Hello All

Having studied this amazing thread for around 6 months, I have finally decided to give it a go !
Basically, my entire stereo system does not work anymore, no sound, black screen.

I am a little nervous to say the least, what seems very easy for you guys looks very complicated to me ! It does not help that I am totally colour blind....but that's a different story.

Can you please help me with the following:
The unit I am looking at is the Erisin ES7053B (as I do not need an android unit), Will this fit ?
Do I still need a Fakra converter ?
What is the gold plugs I need for the aerial ?
is there anything else I need ?

Thanks all, and Mr Haylands, Thank you so much for doing this thread, you have helped a lot of people !

It's not hard if you take your time, you can also get it all running in the boot before you start the stripdown...

The only comment I would have about that unit is the processor speed, 800MHz CPU, Dual Core, is OK I had a similar one a few years back and it was a bit slow to work, you pressed a button and then waited for it to respond, the 1.6ghz quad core on the other hand is instant...

Down to less than £250 now.... and the Android platform is nice to use....

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-X5-E53-E39-7...SwhcJWQCuP
(This is an example, I am not recommending this one as I've never seen one...!!!)

Mine is still going fine after 18months, Erisin promised me a free copy of the latest software once they had sorted the Mirror Link out but now they have they seem to be ignoring me... Oh well, I can live without it.... Pete

I am not that fussed about speed really, all I will use is the Radio, Bluetooth, GPS and maybe phone connector !

I have had an IPhone for years and still have never downloaded an App !

I will take my time indeed ! as so far, every time I have removed any panel or part, I seem to break it !

So.......

Do I still need a Fakra converter ?
What is the gold plugs I need for the aerial ?
is there anything else I need ?

Thanks
