Yeah, i did play with the numbers. It was 2pm (a few weeks ago) when I was doing this, so shooting for 14:00. Here's an archived web page with some info:

which seems to suggest it might be in BCD 24h format. It didn't work though, but I was able to get 11:00 and 10:59 by varying the messages - on the analog clock and on the instrument panel.

I tried a few combinations of BCD, hex, 12 and 24h format, then gave up reminding myself that I was supposed to be working on sound first. The frills (time etc can come later).

All very exciting but I may be happy moving screen to glovebox and using cd input? I'm sure I saw this done somewhere? Particularly if I can use wheel controls thru I.bus box that came with unit.

I came up with that bright idea, while the new head is easy to connect to the CD via an emulator, I'm not too sure what the steering wheel controls will do, as the ibus will be talking to both the old and new head units, so the volume show go up and down, but the next track function could be interesting. Thinking about it should work as the emulator is only an aux input and not an ipod controller, but alas the Censored ffrr has been eating in to the stereo fund and at this moment in time it's running in the red Big Cry Next year, maybe, I've got the emulator Very Happy just not the head unit Sad Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

Australia 2007 Range Rover Vogue SE TDV8 Java Black

Today I started the install an my 2003 HSE, All went to plan, head unit in, Plugs all in the dash from the old Mid unit.
Unit turns on, steering wheel controls all work out of the box but I have no sound. I quick dig around the back and I have an amp. Number is XQK000020. Has one big plug on the top. No Sub. Having read this thread several times I am a bit confused. Others have said the BM54 unit turns the amp on. I have no BM54 unit? I have tried to decipher wiring diagrams, plug pin outs but am none the wiser.
Has anyone fitted one of these units with only the mid setup with this amp. Presumably the audio in and outs are all in the one plug going into the amp. Can this amp be turned on with a 12v feed? 2007 TDV8 VSE

Just had a quick look at the wiring diagram and it appears that the old head unit turns on your amp via an I-bus signal rather like the Vogue type, think you may need to get the longer lead and direct wire it to the speakers, or wait for MrKev to sort out the I-bus signals.... Pete

They do but the amp gets told to work via the I-bus, it has power to it but doesn't come on and know what volume to be at unless the head unit tells it to... Pete

So actually, thinking about it you don't need the long lead, you just have to bypass the amp in the boot, see which wires correspond with the inputs from your new head unit and connect the other end of the wire at the amplifier... Pete

Thats what I wanted to hear, I will have a play with the old mid unit 1st. I am thinking if I connect the old mid unit and head unit as original but remove the speaker outputs so they only come out of the new Android unit maybe the amp can be woken up and accept the android inputs. 2007 TDV8 VSE

Australia 2007 Range Rover Vogue SE TDV8 Java Black

A bit of progress which I think will be it for my install. I have T`ed into all the head unit in-put wires apart from the speaker outs and attached them to the original head unit along with two small multi plugs which pop out of the main car plug. Also plugged in the mid unit with led readouts. With the New Android unit plugged in I was originally just getting a grey screen with "No Signal" on it. I unplugged the can bus decoder, tried again and the DSP Amp is alive and pumping. The Mid unit is not showing any info apart from trip and mpg stuff. no tone controls on the mid as before??.
On the Android unit everything is sweet. The equaliser settings for tone all work, sound in the car is excellent. Only thing is No steering wheel controls. Also there is a click every time I touch a control on the android unit but that might be a setting issue.
I think the old head unit can fit into the large recess behind the dash and I had already planned to fit the Mid unit in the glove box when I get the CD Changer out ( is that hard).
So I keep the amp and have great sound but lose the steering wheel controls and have to Man up and reach a further 6 inches to change a setting or I could lose the amp and have steering wheel controls and worse sound.
I will be watching the other Sub woofer add thread, If I can just connect a Sub to the amp in the rear that would be icing on the cake.
I still have spaghetti wiring all over the dash but will get into it to permanently connect everything and tidy it up. 2007 TDV8 VSE

evening all,cant wait to get one of these units,been emailing erisin to ask what latest model is they have shown me the ES2046B dimensions are ok but there is two lugs on the top/front which i have not noticed on the other models,question is,is there anyone following this thread bought this model. thanks jeff

ANDROID into HSE with MID unit and DSP AMP

All in and working fine.
To summarise, A can Bus signal from the old single cd head unit is needed to get the DSP amp working you therefore need to connect the old single cd head unit to the same wires as originally used but leave the 8 speaker connections out, the speaker connections should only be connected to the new unit. The two smaller plugs in the big block dont need to be re-used leave them alone. If you trim the plastic wings off the old head unit it will squeeze into the gap behind the dash and when the new android unit is in fitted it holds, pushes it firm in place.
The main Mid readout unit is not needed for the amp to work but you will need to make provision to temporarily connect it if you want to change the clock, date, trip comp etc.
The new canbus adaptor cannot be used so steering wheel controls will not work. If it is connected the screen on the android unit goes blank with "NO SIGNAL" message.
If you watch the install from Powerfuluk they only trim a small amount from the cage. As Haylands advises you will need to remove a fair bit of material to get the new unit sitting back enough to sit perfectly in the dash. You need to do this or the dash top will not sit properly
All the tone controls and speakers fader controls left right, front back work perfectly from the android unit. Music from usb stick and Ipod seamless.
The annoying clicking when pressing buttons can be turned off in the settings as with a phone.
Thanks Paul for the Splash Screens, I need to get a micro sd to load them.
I am very impressed with the sound and overall quality of the unit. Music on high bitrate files sounds superb, Its a great upgrade utilising the DSP amp. The more I use it the happier I am with the performance.
