Hi Riverstick, I've been reading this with great interest, last year I posed the question can you fit the Bi Turbo setup, didn't really get the answer other than the tranny would eat it's self. Now, thanks to you, I'm a wee bit wiser Wink

How are you getting on with your power increases? Any news?

I'm keen to gain a few gee gee's under the hood, and have seen some where with a remap figure of around the 225 Hp mark, which is nearer to the rest of the BMW range with the M57TUD30. Rather than the reality figures that are closer to the 2.5 lt version. Boy BMW really didn't want to have anything to do with the L322, from what I can see.

Still it might be Land Rover themselves, they did manage to take the 200 hp 3.5 lt Buick tune it up to 130 hp Thud There is a history of detuning Whistle

I'm also interested in your gearbox mods, as i tow 3 ton + trailers regularly (5-6K per year), and would like to get a few miles out of my rebuilt box before it all goes Pete Tong again. But I'm hesitant to remap the box as power is already a major issue, especially when it comes to hills Sad Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

So what are the differences between the 2002 ffrr and the X5 engines other than the engine map. Surely it's a case of finding the highest output X5 with the GM box, changing cam / injectors / turbo to match and uploading the engine map ? Then you'd be in the 225 Hp region that we want to be, if not higher Confused Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

They tend to want more bottom end torque....... For off road, as Craig suggests.

I dare say in this case though, BMW didn't want it to be nearly as quick as an X5....

JE Engineering get it to 220 odd just with remap....

Craig, I take that comment as an insult, considering that you have twice the power that my beemer tractor has Evil or Very Mad

If you look at the nice graph that Mark provided, there is no difference in the starting point , of the finishing point of power and torque, just more Sad
And then you look at the Wikipedia figures for the BMW engine and you'll see why I say we were stuffed by BMW

Hi Guys,

A few updates. My Range Rover has really settled down with its mods and is performing superb. The transmission is changing beautifully and makes the car a pleasure to drive. I sorted out a seized rear brake calliper and this really transformed the driving experience from good to excellent.

The main differences in the M57 motor fitted to our Range Rovers and BMW X5's was the mapping software. While the engine itself is easily capable of 250 bhp, very few Remappers will give you this power due to transmission capabilities and excessive EGT's as the 3.0 litre engine has to work hard to propel the 2600kg body plus trailer. Above 250 bhp, the turbocharger runs out of breath, and the injectors are starting to smoke a little.

I am currently having a set of 535d injectors built and will fit them in the coming weeks. Then I am ready for remapping

Since We hybrided the turbocharger, the engine has excessive air, and as a result, it will not produce smoke, no matter how much I thrash it. Power delivery is nice and smooth and fuel economy is good, and it feels nice and gutsy in its current set up. I'm looking forward to the next step 2008 Range Rover TDV8 435,000kms

Also following this with great interest. You inspired me to buy a €6000 project just recently. Ive read your thread about 5 times now. Id like to get mine remapped and try out the Eduard gearbox ECU mod. I dont like the way my TD6 is always hunting for gears and reving needlessly. Its up and down like a yo-yo knickered tart on the back roads around here. For a luxury vehicle I wasnt expecting all this fuss and drama, I just expected it to waft along serenely. Anyway excellent thread. I look forward to your updates.

Hello once again fellow Ranger Roverers!

A few updates for you.

We have completed the facelift to 2012 spec.,,some original panels painted....others polished.

We have fitted an Android head unit with interface for the canbus system.

EBC brake pads and discs fitted.

BMW 535d injector nozzles fitted to the original injectors.

What a totally transformed jeep it is with the bigger injectors...it sounds different, ticks over smoother, accelerates far superior to its original set up. The engine revs far more freely and the response time is superb. There is less drone from it at motorway speeds and as you cruise at 80mph, it begs to be driven on. What a transformation, hard to imagine it''s the same jeep. Next step is to have it remapped 2008 Range Rover TDV8 435,000kms
