Well got the new box fitted today, all went well, and what a difference.... silky smooth changes, pickup from rest is much, much better, the old torque convertor must have been well worn...

Hi to all, I am removing my gearbox, same model as 'haylands' ( Bmw v8 )and wonder if anyone has removed a gearbox, and has any tips on getting the four flex plate to torque converter bolts out, as the front subframe is right in the way. I know how to remove them, just what tool has anyone had success with, ie an odd shaped ring spanner, or various sockets etc. I have to be careful not the round them off, and they are definitely not playing cricket today. |

John, PM replied to..., I don't think you will round them off they are high tensile bolts, I used a 17mm 3/8 drive deep socket, they are a pain though.... Pete

Pretty sure they are 17mm, you need a deep 3/8 drive socket on about a 1ft ratchet, feed it in and work your hands round the sides and it is possible... they are high tensile bolts so you won't round them off, they are very tight though...
