tyre size options on 22's

Love them or hate them, I'll be needing to fit new tyres to my 22" wheels soon. At present they are 285/35 x 22

Are there any other options, as the ride is quite/very hard?

Just wondering what other tyre size/combination you guys use on 22's?

Anything taller is going to affect your speedo reading

Are you asking what will physically fit ?

L405 22's run 275/40/22 but are slightly taller Thumbs Up

I run Conti 275/40/22 L405 tyres on my 2012 322 and they are a vast improvement over 285/35/22’s sir both in comfort and appearance... Your size IMHO look too skinny! 405 size fills the arches better.. Pic bellow Thumbs Up

IMHO 285/35 R22 are just too thin and sports-car-esk!! Also, IIRC the Pirelli ones in this size are 109 load rated which makes the car push on a bit through the twistys. I'm running Hankook RH06 iin 305/40 R22 114V and in terms of appearance, grip (wet & dry) & noise I cannot fault them. They are also M+S rated Thumbs Up See pic below.

I know they haven't got the aggressive look of the LTZs but then that isn't always the look one is trying to achieve.

BTW - tried to tell my insurance company about the non-standard wheels and tyres but was told they weren't interested Shocked Apparently farmers seldom ever stick to "standard" sizes so they've given up worrying about it Laughing

I welcome bit of additional rim protection with 305's too I would imagine.

The 275's on the L405 do look awfully close to the edge of the tyre - I'm not sure how long mine are going to last Confused

Any issues with rubbing? Even over BIG bumps with a loaded car?

Craig - I'd be lying if I said no Laughing

I've got 6mm spacers on the rear but I don't think they're needed so will come off this week when I service the brakes. I also "moulded" the tank filler tube lump in the rear liner with a heat gun before fitting them just to be sure.

There's no visible evidence but I'm sure axle articulation with full lock makes the tyres just and so touch the liner grills - but as I said, there is no visible evidence of this.

And to top it all, if, hypothetically, you were testing the nerve of an Audi TT owner who took exception to a FFRR overtaking him and went through a "bomb hole" well on the wrong side of the ton then perhaps they could touch the rear wheel arch Laughing Laughing Still, during this hypothetical situation the TT drivers nerve would fail long before my tyres would cause a problem Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

I guess the particular wheels they are fitted to will also make a difference (off-set, rim width etc).

I have 22 OF Tigers on mine with 285/35 x 22 ( was on when i got the car) as i haven't been able to get a reasonably priced set of 20" Style 11 wheels, i am planning to just upgrade the tyres in the nest few months. I will probably follow what Craig has 275/40/22 - i am thinking of either the Conti or Vred All weather. any suggestions, also am i correct in thinking that there are no other alterations to be made- just get they tyres on and balanced etc.
My objective is to get a smoother ride and better handling. 2011 5.0SC Santorini Black

Hi
sorry to jump on the thread, but have just purchased, and I am due to collect a 2015 Vogue SE with 22" wheels. Will the 302x22 LTZ fit the 22" wheel or is it to wide?

Keith

285/40/22 are perfect. I'm running them. Would not consider anything less.
