285/40/22 are perfect. I'm running them. Would not consider anything less.

Just checked that size and they are unknown this side of the pond Confused

The website I get my tyres from (unsure if I am allowed to list on here??) do 2 different 285/40x22 tyres, a budget (Achilles Desert Hawk) and Conti Sport Contact 5P.

The budget ones are approx the same price as the 285/35x22 budget my wheels came with. The Conti's are £235 a piece, if thats any guide to go by

I searched and searched and searched and was able to find my 285/40/22 Toyo Proxies STII's for around $900 shipped. Granted I don't know if they would ship to that side of the pond (would probably be too much) but that was a heck of a deal.

sorry for late reply Craig, I use tyreleader.co.uk and have them delivered.

So are we saying either 275 or 305 width, with 40 profile should be fine? I never load it up (unless mrsblonde does with shopping Big Cry ) so guessing the 305 wouldnt rub?

I wouldn't say either - I'd say 275 is good but you could go up to 305 - depending on sidewall height) so anything in between is OK as long as you don't go taller.

OK, i run 275/40’s which i can report ZERO issues with, the chap in the states runs 285/40’s and reports ZERO issues with, the guy running 305/40’s reports rubbing issues...

If it were me........ I would replace with 285/40’s NOT the 305’s as i like my tyres without rubbing Whistle Thumbs Up

Thanks Craig

For a decent tyre on the 275 or 285 width am looking at maybe £250 a corner, but seen 305 width Yokohamas for about £120 a piece, im never loaded up with anything and its not lowered, so thinking these?

Will also offer more protection for when the missus drives it Mr. Green

Read the post again, the user had to modify the fuel spout cover etc to stop them continually rubbing... Thumbs Up

Had the 285/40x22 fitted to the back this afternoon and they look great. Still got 2 fairly good 285/35x22 on the front, with 5-6mm tread left on them, it doesnt look odd but should i change the fronts too ASAP? Will the extra 5mm make a lot of difference? I know not ideal, but has anyone ever done it for a few weeks?

Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked

I wouldn’t drive mine 100 meters like that for risk of screwing up the drive train Rolling Eyes

Very surprised the tyre fitters didn’t warn you of the dangers! Rolling Eyes

Shocked

The difference is not 5mm, it's nearer 90mm - approx 3.62% out. Don't drive it another foot like that! Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK
