4.4 V8 poor fuel economy

One thing of concern is fuel economy, now don't get me wrong I'm under no illusion that this was going to be anything else but a gas guzzler but it really does take the tiddle & not like I'm not used to running V8s. I have the RRC V8 & Last car was an audi Quattro 4.2V8 340 BHP that gave around 17mpg depending on if I drove it like it was stolen & that seems economical compared to this. I put £20 in the other day & only got around 20 miles, correct me if I'm wrong but shouldn't I be getting more that that?

I could live with 15/17mpg. I tried to work it out what I got, that £20 fuel is around 17 litres. Used an online calculator it tells me mine is doing 5.35 mpg Shocked

To be really accurate you need to do a couple of tank to tank fills. If you can,use the same pump and only let it click once when full.

Enter the details into something like www.fuelly.com make sure you select UK MPG and go from there.....you need to go through a couple of tanks to get a true picture. 2006 4.2 SC

Your not ment to drive a RR like you stole it Laughing Laughing

My other V8's , 2 3.5's and the Disco a 3.9 are no where as economical as the FF, I get 14.7 most times on short trips or work and on a long run the best out of the old girl 25 mpg. If it dont work.......burn it!

If the IId tool cant fix it.......burn the FF.

If the FF cant be fixed......buy a Land Cruiser!

If the LC cant be fixed..............................................BUY a horse !!

Mine shows me as getting 17.9 currently and that is driving like miss daisy. When I first had it the mpg was closer to 20. I plan to do a fill with the high octane fuel to see if it changes either the performance or economy. Mileage and fuel records calculated over the last few months shows it to be more like 15.6
ODB shows some issues with O2 sensors which I should get checked out but not causing warning lights. Have you looked for any error codes?

Rule of thumb when you drive/own a V8: fill it up when its empty, stop counting. Mr. Green

Works for me especially with MTRs, winch and roof rack. Whistle l=Oo\________/oO=l l:OolΞΞΞΞΞΞΞloO:l

I got an average of 17 when I had a 4.4. I'm not an economical driver particularly. I don't think I could get it down below 10 without being chased Shocked
