No, you can just register as an independent. You get access to some basic info about your car (build specs etc) plus owners manuals. Like everything in life though, you pay for the good stuff (bulletins and repair info etc). You can pay by the hour though which isn't too terrible. My Previous RR's!

Blind spot monitoring uses two small sensors in the rear bumper, not the cameras, although that would probably be more
Reliable. If you have the below icon in your mirror then the vehicle should be equipped, and the selection with be under the vehicle set up option on the TFT. If there's a YELLOW DOT ONLY, then you either haven't reached the required speed, or your
System is faulty.

I definitely have the mirror fitted with the LEDs. It also appears to be wired up, but It isn't anywhere in the menus that I can see and has never lit up My Previous RR's!

BSM- some door mirrors have the symbols but system is not connected.

BSM works two ways, one it picks up vehicle in BS and you get a light on in the mirror in, two - if the vehicle behind is closing speed >25% than yours it will light up 75m behind you and you will get an additional audibale wng when the vehicle goes into your blind spot. Cheers

Indeed - I have forward alert but no LEDs or anything in the wind mirrors. Also nothing shows on the tat screen to activate it.

I'm guessing it was not installed on mine Ash

The BSM devices are in the rear quarter panels on each side just front of the rear lights. The workshop manual clearly show their location. If you look you will see that these quarter panels are made of plastic - as this does not interfere with the radio/micro sonic waves that the system is sending out motoring whats around.

Both our L322 have plastic quarter panels - they are not alloy as I have tested with magnet.
The square BSM system units can be clearly been seen when you take the inside carpet panels off. There is also a audio speaker system fitted on each side - I guess this is that makes the sound when something is getting near your ass - its time to put metal to the floor when they bleep

Have you tried or come across this:
- I had this the other day on route to the airport - some Muppet decided to stop when turning off a bit sharpish - the Warnings came up on the dash board with the bleeps ( Ive got is set on Max scanning range ) - I noticed the brakes were being applied for me and the brake pedal was jerking under my foot when I applied the brakes - the same as you get when the ABS system is being activated very very hard.

Is this another device when you are braking at the last minute to let you know the brakes are being applied ( as well as you ) - has anyone else encountered this - although I would not want to leave ALL THE BRAKING to all the car itself just incase it did not stop in time.

what you are describing is part of the fwd alert system working in conjunction with emergency brake assist (EBA).

EBA precharges the brake system so a light touch will act as an emergency stop.

EBA also takes into account the rate at which the brake pedal is pressed which is something most EBA car systems from other manu dont do. most (including JLR) work on time difference between coming off the acc pedal and hitting the brake pedal.

going back to fwd alert picking up an obstruction - if you dont brake and the vehicle thinks an impact is immenant it will brake itself to reduce the speed of the impact - it will not brake you to avoid the collision unless you have queue assist.

if you have queue assist it will stop the vehicle. if you dont have queue assist fwd alert wont stop the vehicle (it works the same as in ACC) it will brake you to 20mph thats it.

in essence EBA and Fwd Alert have been around ages, queue assist package has only recently been added as software development allowed it. Cheers

But...

I have BSM on my S/C and it's working, I don't however have that "22"-symbol showing up and I don't have the LED dot when standing still. (I do however have that on my Sport) Range Rover SV Autobiography LWB 5.0 S/C -17

Hi Somchie,

For "22" you have to switch on 'Forward Alert' via the TFT menu. You then get the green triangle.
