Rear wash / wiper

Not one to make comparisons but, when I press the rear wash on the D2, water is almost instant ! When washing the rear window on FF, I get about 3-4 swipes and then water, and the water isn't constant??
Could there be an issue with the pump? Seems to work ok at the front!

Thanks

David

Mine's the same. A few weeks ago I had the whole lot apart because none of it worked. I fitted a new non return valve hoping it would help but its just the same - it takes a whole wash cycle to prime it Neutral

Cheers, Jon.

From what I can make out.. A swift push forward on the stalk, and release to start the cycle, it then pumps some water out before moving the wiper (in theory).

Mine would swipe a few times before the water came out. After this had happened, the water would be there, and would work as it should the next time. I changed the one way valve at the rear wiper to fix it. Most of the time it works properly now.

Pushing the stalk, and holding it forward isn't the right way to get it to pump water out..

My current issue is working out the rear wiper delay. It seems to be about 3 to 4 seconds, no matter what position the front wiper delay is in, or the time between selecting the rear wiper, then selecting it again.

The small non return valve in the upper tailgate which fails, only a couple of quids, when it's gone it allows the water to drain back to the reservoir so it has to be pumped all the way back hence the delay.

Get a new one, fit it, and hey presto all good! But if it doesn't then I'm stumped, unless the seal on the wiper motor has gone, take the upper tailgate trim off and have a look to see if it is leaking, has a tendancy to dump water onto the tailgate trim rather than onto the screen. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Ahhhh

Couple of weeks ago purchase my first l322 (2006 sc, upgrade from the p38 that eventually died) and my rear wash is also the same, pump runs but only get a dribble of water, I think the non return valve may be stuck, can someone tell me the location and how to get to it before I start stripping the wrong bits! Thanks

Maxmax, mine was blocked up with sediment in the transfer tube - this is fairly common. I managed to clean it out without removing the rear wiper motor just by removing the rear wiper arm and poking some wire down the hole (the transfer tube). Standby for the squirt of filthy water when it goes - it got me a treat.... Laughing I was then a bit unlucky in that once flowing it leaked - another common issue but look in the wiki for how to change the little seal if that happens Thumbs Up

There is a good youtube video of how to remove the spoiler and interior panel to access the rear wiper motor. The non return valve is a little black box a couple of inches back from the wiper motor - you can dismantle and clean it - but it didn't make any difference to mine. As above I then installed a new non-return valve but it still takes a wash cycle to prime it before it will wash - but it works a treat thereafter, and doesn't leak! Thumbs Up

Cheers, Jon.

I thought this may have been cause of leak into the boot for me a faulty non-return valve of bad pipe ,but it seems to be the black 90* turrit on the bottom of the wiper motor housing .... It must be some back pressure pushing water back out of this plastic turrit ..... 57 - Silver TDV8 VSE loaded
