Diagnostics, what to buy

I have had an iid tool in the past and found it a very very good bit of kit. That was for my d3.

I have tried contacting gap for some advice on what i need to purchase but have had no response at all.

This is through there web site and this one. So I'm looking into the hawkeye and a like. What do other people use and how do they compare to the iid tool?

Cheers, Steve

I would stick to IIDTool.

What do you need to know that you can find on their website? Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

I have the 59 change over model, some bits from both. Just wanted to confirm the model number for the iid required and that it would work.

I think i need the blue tooth version as i can't seem to find a non bt one. But these are questions i have asked a few times with no answer.

Cheers, Steve

The forum is awash with IIDTool info. Have you done a search?

alan, i don't really understand what your link points to, just threads about other peoples issues and how to use the iid.

I specifically need to know the model number for my year of car, and i can only find one distributor that sells it. I may try britpart and ask about there lynx system.

If gap cant be bothered to respond to my emails them i dont really see why i should buy there product. Its a simple question that i am asking from them.

Steve, I was highlighting the IIDTool FAQ which might have been of some help to you. Its most unusual for the guys @Gap not to respond to an enquiry. There's been nothing but praise from everyone who's had a need to contact them. Their support is second to none.

I have no allegiance to Gap but if you choose to buy another product, I'm fairly certain you'll regret doing so. Keep in mind that if you buy the IIDTool you'll have access, via this forum, to the guys who actually developed it. Not sure you could say the same about other diagnostic products.

It's your money, and your choice at the end of the day.

As they say up here, don't cut your nose off to spite your face Thumbs Up Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

I have an IID, a Multi-VIN Faultmate, and used to own a Hawkeye.

The Hawkeye is a fancy code reader.
The Faultmate is (currently, but not for long) The most powerful tool, but comes at a price
The IID does everything I need it to do (and is still being developed with new features being added with every update)

Since buying my IID in December 2013, I have used the Faultmate twice Thumbs Up

is it not as simple as phoning an iidtool supplier [dan @ duckworths for instance] and asking for a tool for your year FF/vin number... Rolling Eyes ... - .- -.

A locked out heater can be any thing from trying to start 3 times with low fuel to a burned out glow plug.

Hi Steve
Did you go for the gap tool?
Mine is a 59 version and wondered how you got on?
Where did you buy it?
