Not so much the weather that causes the seal to fail, imo it's the rubbish design. It just isn't designed to fit correctly around the two upper corners of the opening with the result it pulls away from the mounting flange resulting in water getting into the body cavities and dumping out all over the amp.
If you are going to fit a new seal yourself be very careful fitting the it around the top corners, it would be very easy to distort the seal and leave you with another leaking seal, albeit a new one. Thumbs Up

Talkin of fitting a new seal, is it an idea to apply some non setting mastic to the inside of the seal, a bit like you used to do with windscreens before they went to glue fix? Only from where I'm sitting, it looks like a good idea? Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

The new seal has an integral mastic bead already fitted into the seat. Thumbs Up

Are but it don't Censored work very well Laughing I've not looked at my new seal yet only the old one that's sort of still working, just. It's only swelled up by the top of the lower tailgate Mr. Green , so it's only the wheelwell, or should be the real well Shocked filling up slowly Laughing I've had a new seal for a couple of weeks, but every time I have the time to do it, it Censored rains Evil or Very Mad So as it is more of an annoyance, it has been put to the bottom of the to do list. There is nothing in the derr brains bin / cupboard, although the DVD nav did have a fit today, think it was throwing it's disc out and reloading it again, clunk thud whir, clunk thud whir when I turned the car off this morning. Ejected the disc properly, put it straight back in and all was good, well as good as you get from a disc that's 10 years out of date, use the tomtom, Whistle doesn't cost £400 to change the map Wink Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer...
