Please add me to the ever growing list of those afflicted with water ingess in the spare tire well of my 2006 HSE. I am eagerly awaiting the arrival of a replacement air compressor tomorrow and have taken steps to identify the source of the leak. Here is a video of my attempts earlier today:

I have also now discovered the obligatory leak! I am not going to waste much time on this, so took the easy option and removed the two rubber drain plugs adjacent to the air compressor - far easier to manage water that has got in and give it an easy way out - hopefully!

Good timing in resurrecting this thread as Ive recently suffered my BlueTooth module being totally destroyed by water and wiping out my entertainment system. A fibre optic bypass quickly had all my particulars visible again, thankfully

Without wanting to tempt fate, I feel really lucky - the boot is completely dry and the tailgate appears completely rust free |
