Well having a MY 2010, I thought I would fill a 64GB USB Stick with music and insert it in the appropriate orifice to fill my car with all sorts of sounds, well thats difficult for a start so its only about 1/2 full so far but it is slow and also sometimes seems it just won't play some albums at all - although it generally gets there eventually.

I didn't mention CDs they also work fine although I generally use MP3 for convenience as my old ears can't really appreciate the difference any more, although I have got about 10CDs from Santa. Can't play vinyl any more unless I get the deck from the attic, same with cassettes my deck is also in the attic. Geoff |

I found (albeit different car) that big USBs took ages to index, went to 2Gb and was fine. Graham

Moved everything to two levels - no difference - however have read that the Mac puts a lot of invisible stuff on the stick which may cause problems. Windows next stop Geoff |

Geoff, I've got a fairly aged 8gb PNY stick with a variety of tracks created in the root directory via a Mac. Seems to work fine, so maybe it is the size of your stick (oo-er missus!) that is causing the issue?

Geoff it could also be type of stick. I believe the cheaper versions work better the versions without the security. Also stick should be formatted in FAT32. I can run up to 256 gb in the Jag with no issue I would have thought both systems would be similar. Present :2008 TDV8 HSE

Well I eventually got to the bottom of this problem and it's all down to those tax dodging s at Apple. If you write the stick from OSX a lot of stuff is included which helps the Mac do its thing, trashes, spotlight searches etc and it often keeps copies of files with "._" at the beginning. The Mac just ignores this stuff however the RR doesn't and to say it gets confused is an understatement.

Read with interest, albeit after the fact, as I'm about to do the same in my 2010my RR VSE and was wondering about using a 32GB or smaller because of previous posts. Thanks, Geoff! |
