my point is that the 5.0 is not 'all that'....it is a very nice vehicle with the new digital dash but other things are available on the 4.2.

as for performance , the 5.0 goes from 0-60 in one second faster and does an extra 10 mph on top speed ...it doesnt handle any better than the 4.2 ....

i could have a 2010/12 facelift on mine and it would the same as a 5.0...

so i cant see how you can say it feels more luxurious and more expensive than a 4.2...

its not just you Gary but also others that keep going on that the 5.0 is the best thing since sliced bread, it is good but then so is the td6,4.4 petrol and all the rest...

and being a mod isnt going to stop me from having an opinion.. ... - .- -.

I do not drive either daily but I do buy/drive/prepare/sell/test lots of 4.2 & 5.0 over the months and years.

Take it from me the 5.0 AB feels much "newer", plusher and generally more upmarket than the 4.2 which I am afraid to say is starting to feel a little dated as are its 2006-2009 brothers and sisters.

Across all the models, the newer versions will always feel better than the older ones, the early TD6s were a little agricultural but the last ones in 2005 were smoother and had better soundproofing.

The 5.0 has a different seats to the 4.2, and has the stitching on the centre dash and full leather door panels with stitching, whereas the 4.2 did not. nor did it have the Alston stitched leather headlining with rear vanity mirrors (In Ivory or Jet).

Yes it feels better to drive, it's newer! Laughing

Having owned both I can tell anyone that the difference in 0-60 is very noticeable. I've never v-maxed either in the RR so wouldn't know about the absolute top speeds, but I know the 5.0 gets to insane speeds much quicker.

The OP wants to hear from 5.0 members, and so far, not a single one has said anything bad about the car, irrespective of the "5.0 owners club" thing.

The 4.2 represents awesome VFM, hence that's why I convinced my mum to get into one (albeit a Sport) Discovery 4 HSE

As Adam says the additional leather/stitching/headlining/pillar lining revised dash/wheel/seat design and centre consul all add up to a much plusher more upmarket interior feel than the car it replaces.

Sorry but its a fact Idea

Stan, are you saying you have 2010+ seats in your car? They are completely different to the 2006-2009 seats?

The leather is stitched in a different way on dash/pillars/headlining etc. Centre Consul is different, Dash is different not sure why your trying to argue that a 2006+ model feels/looks the same as a 2010+ car. (Albeit you have and like the 2006+ model)

How many 5.0 AB's have you driven or lived with for any time?

Both 4.2 and 5.0 SC are great cars. For sure the 5.0 is better and if you have the cash that's the one to have. In Autobiography form the finish is indeed extraordinary and lifts the interior to Bentley level. Buy the latest version you can afford I would say.
