is it not the case that when the car fails its test and you take it elsewhere when the second garage logs onto the system those failures show up - so it'll just fail straight away unless obvious work has taken place

NO I don't think they are linked to previous tests, at least that dint didn't happen on mine. I got fail due to headlight washers not working. took it down the road to my local MOT garage, he found a few advisories (rear bushes needing replacing at some point in the future) but passed first time!!

Rusty brake pipes are a common fault on FFRRs, usually the rear pipes that corrode first followed by the pipes going to the front flexi pipes. It's also false economy not changing the flexi pipes at the same time

I had to replace both rears on my Dec 2008 VSE. Started leaking below B pillar area.

£450 from main dealer. Maybe just some shoddy pipes out there....

Hi everyone,

Well i have now booked it into lrs in preston, basically told him the story

and didn't mention the garage but he guessed the garage i had took it into.

The shocking thing is he had the same so called issues with another vehicle that a woman had took into them

i did have a look at the break lines at the rear going to the flexi pipes and the only corrosion was at the end

where the nut is at the top end.

I think its going to be interesting on friday as they said they will talk me through it as they walk round the underside of the vehicle.

DO NOT USE K MOTORS IN LEYLAND.

Just coat your all brake pipes with grease and you won't need to replace them. Thumbs Up

I have corrosion on my offside rear pipe and have bought the all in one genuine Land Rover pipe. However, I am still puzzling over how to install this as it has to cross the back axle and at the same time get down a Narrow gap in front of the nearside rear wheel arch before heading along the chassis to the coupling at the front wheel arch.. Has anyone solved this puzzle? 2014 5.0 Supercharged Autobiography & 2015 3.0SDV6 HSE Lux Discovery 4

@ RRBlue

Do you have side steps? If so this makes the job a lot harder, otherwise you simply remove the fuel tank cover, the plastic cover in the sill recess, slide the pipe up and across the axle first. If you have side steps you can remove these (but expected sheared bolts!!) or do what I did and cheat by putting a connector in somewhere (mine is tucked away under the tank cover. See wiki for how I replaced al my pipes. Others may have another way ??

joe,

you need some kind of award, because i have reading read all your threads on suspension,

and I'm still not even going to attempt the tyres of.

i have been told to replace all the bushes front and back and basically renew most of the suspension

not the air bags and struts is a 6 hour job at £60 an hour.

The expense is the parts which at the moment come in at a whopping £1200, but that was a quote from the garage for

genuine landcover parts, this is a complete srtipdown and overhaul of my suspension.

The garage said they will look at it on friday to asses what it actually needs. RANGE ROVER OVERFINCHED 4.2 S/C

If you just keep going from one garage to the next, and to the next, and to the next until they give you the news you want then... Surely your not getting the work done that has clearly been missed in the last "how long?"

My point is, obviously your entire suspension does not decide to pack in overnight! Neither do your Brake Pipes... Etc etc etc.

Things need replacing during normal servicing (on a yearly basis) When was your car last maintained?
