Might be worth putting one of these over the expansion tank to see if there is any exhaust in the coolant

Also I had a p38 which used a load of coolant thought head gasket but it too ran smooth for too long eventually found a leak on the rad where the top tank was crimped it only leaked under pressure so of course evaporated and left no trace I foundd it using dye did the sniff test to confirm it had no slipped liner plus stick a comp test on it - can't remember if you said you had .

Do not, whatever you do use 1st Choice Engines, only ever heard bad about them, if you google them they have terrible reviews as well...

Could be worth just getting the coolant system pressure tested. Find someone with one of these

If you can't see it leaking out then it's getting into the oil or the pistons.... Pete

Is the heater nice and hot, could be an airlock in the system, did you pressure test it hot or cold?? Pete

Ok my experience of this is with a p38 v8 with lpg the vaporiser is usually two chambers with a neoprene gasket between them to at least there is an area where the gasket prevents water from entering the chamber with the gas. I took mine off and stripped it down - there are a couple of people on fleabay who sell kits to refurb the vaporisers. It was only after I had done all this that I found out that they need doing approx every 7/8 years max so it is worth disconnecting the coolant from the vaporiser and by passing it then retest. |
