Suspension squeeking?

Just noticed when driving with my window down there are some squeaky noises coming from suspension when driving

Any ideas what that could be?

Its a 2005 4.2 Supercharged vogue

cheers

Mine does that when the weather has been dry for ages. I recon it's the bushes on the rear suspension squeaking which makes it sound like an old pram.

I normally cure it by taking it up some grass bank and making the suspension move more that it would under normal conditions ie more articulation. Fine after that for a few months.

That said, it could be something else......... 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

I'm guessing the rubber bush is twisting and squeaking. Cover them in wd40 or such like.

Will then see if that's it.

When it's wet prob not as much friction, so no noise..... 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

Not advisable to spray WD40 on rubber bushes as it can cause the rubber to break down

You'll have to go with the "or such like" option then.

What about washing up liquid ?

WD-40 Specialist Anti Friction Dry PTFE Lubricant 250ml spray can

This product is £3.99 and is designed to be safe on rubber, plastic and other materials/ components and is a product I've used recently because it specifically states on the rear of the tin that it is designed to reduce friction and wear on components including "bushings".

Washing up liquid is FULL of salt to soften the water, don't get it anywhere near an FF, they rust well enough on their own.... Pete

OK, I'm gonna have to work harder to cover this one up...... Laughing

I will stick to my small axle twister solution.

Has worked so far.

Lubrication advice is best left to others..........

Mark, I think what you meant was you use washing up liquid to wash your hands after you haven't used WD40... Pete

Yes, is that not what got posted ? Piggin ipad changed all the spelling and words and context and seems to have become self aware !

Laughing

I use expensive car washing shampoo to wash my hands after not using wd40 Whistle

Seriously though, I think a few have the squeaking issue if the suspension moves to an angle it's not been to very often. Perhaps the rubber becomes more rigid over time and is less pliable when required. 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

Did anyone find a definitive cause for the squeak?

Mine has just started squeaking from both sides at the rear. I can get it to squeak by just rocking the car. It sounds terrible as I drive through the supermarket car park and over the speed humps.

I hope to get the L322 onto a mate's hoist next week so will hunt about then. If silicone spray is a cure, I'll buy a can before then. Ron B. VK2OTC

I've been there (and may end up there again)!

It might be the sub frame bushes (http://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic21092.html), or it could be the rear suspension hub bushes (http://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/post140711.html) or lastly (and cheapest to check/fix) it could be the handbrake cable rubbing against the chassis (http://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic30397.html) - I changed the grommet, added some tubing around the worn cable and it's been quiet since then.

Hope it's the handbrake cable problem for you too!
