Sounds great Craig.

Apologies for going off topic now but to answer bwelton's post:

@bwelton,

A good starting point would be to email the service manager at your servicing main dealer and outline that as far as you are aware, it has never had any recall work done and as the original warranty approaches the end if it's term, you want to ensure that your car is tip top and that nothing has been overlooked with your car, hence you are enquiring with them with adequate time for any outstanding issues to be addressed before said term ends. Then, after sending the email, you could telephone the service department and check to ensure that the service manager has received and will be giving the matter attention.

Additional to recall considerations and having regard to your current comprehensive warranty cover, if you trust your servicing main dealer, great. You could also pay an independent specialist for an hour's labour/ second opinion, asking them to inspect/ give your car a health check and to list any areas of maintenance work identified... And if there are any identified aspects of maintenance work, some of those might well be covered under the warranty and you could book the car in for any such work before the warranty period expires.

Just some thoughts Thumbs Up

If you are friendly with your local main agent... Stick it into them and ask them what they can/would do? Before the warranty is out Thumbs Up

My old TD6 had heaps & heaps done in the last weeks of warranty cover! Whistle

United Kingdom 2014 Range Rover Vogue SE SDV8 Santorini Black

Craig, I have a 2011.5 MY 4.4 TDV8 which I bought in April after selling a Cayenne.

I considered a 2008 3.6 TDV8 Vogue that lived at the top of my road, a 2010 plate 3.6 Autobiography and a 4.4 TDV8 VSE and like you was heavily influenced by the 8 speed box.

After driving a 4.4 TDV8 with the 8 speed box to Geneva and back my mind was made up.
32mpg @ fast French motorway speeds.
80+mph @ way under 2000 rpm and waves of torque when required for overtaking.
The 8 speed box is beautifully smooth in use and the 4.4 is very quiet indeed.

Things that have gone wrong, car has now done 90,000 miles...
Fuel Guage sender unit (warranty)
Has AGM battery, not sure when it was fitted.

Corrosion to the upper tailgate struts (under warranty investigation today)
Rust showing on the top lip of the lower tailgate (under warranty investigation today)
No cooling air from the backrests of the front seats (under warranty investigation today)
Passenger door mirror sticky when folding. (under warranty investigation today)

I understand the fluid change is the gearbox is recommended at about 140,000 miles from JLR fyi.

Overall very impressed but as you are something more of an expert on the marque than me I await your feedback. 2016 (L405) Autobiography in Black with Ivory - for ULEZ
2014 (L405) VSE in Black with Ivory
2011 (L322) VSE in Black with Ivory
2005 (3.2 V6) Porsche Cayenne in Black with Savanna
1999 (P38) VSE in Burgundy (?) with Sand

Thank you sir... All the usual RR bits as you say we usually see & sort issues out. But with 2011 vehicles & newer we don't see as often and certainly not when they have issues (as they are still covered by JLR warranties) so all of your stories are very much welcomed gents... Thumbs Up

Mine is now all sorted but I would never consider it without a warranty. Mine has covered just under 50,000 miles and has had the following parts replaced all under warranty:

- Privacy glass - wrong laminate used at the factory
- Air suspension compressor
- Battery
- Starter motor
- RSE screen on one side
- Exhaust back box for corrosion
- Driver and passenger seat base for premature leather wear

Apart from that it is a fantastic vehicle which is sublime to drive.

About Craig, if it had the steering wheel on the "right" Cool side, I would have asked him!

now about the 4.4L. I remember when first testing them in Portugal how much better they felt compared to my then 3.6L TDV8 Vogue.

Also the flappy paddle is a nice touch, along with the LCD binacle and general interior upgrades.

but also the suspension was upgraded and as mentioned, the 8 speed is as smooth as can be (Ford is now preparing a 10 speed Gbox btw!)

anyway, as craig already know, I am looking for a LHD 4.4L Vogue in tip top condition (I am a maniac) so please let me know if you have one for sale - in LHD only) l=Oo\________/oO=l l:OolΞΞΞΞΞΞΞloO:l

Craig,

One thing that all 4.4 TD and SD have had issue with is the oil drain from the turbo. Documented elsewhere on the forum.

Hope to catch up soon.

There's a TSB about the glass issue. It specifically says the wrong laminate was used which is why it is brownish. It also says only to do something if the customer specifically requests a glass change!
