Engine System Fault

"Engine System Fault" warning appears every now and then just after starting car - runs fine so I just ignore it. Is that wise? Question Geoff

Got any diagnostics to pull the fault codes? .... Also maybe low battery related - try checking your voltage.

If that is turbo actuator sticking up than sh ould be no casualties

but if it is egr on the way out than it may finally ground you out Whistle

I have the same issue. now and again I get the " engine system fault" warning. If I turn the engine off and restart it is OK until the next day. Does anyone know what this could be? Terry.

I would check the EGR, clean it as they have a tendency to gunk up over time and cause issues.

I'd say once or twice a year (or just blank it), clean it so you don't have any risk of issues.

It seems something that is not working right at cold start-up, something sticking and the EGR is a good candidate for that. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!

I got it connected to an obd2 scanner and the following was highlighted. Code P132E turbo/supercharger boost control B performance intermittent. Looks like it could be the turbo actuator sticking.

Does anyone know if the turbo actuators can be changed without taking the engine out? Or maybe even lubricate the actuators at the roadside?

It may be worth buying a short term access to topix to get at the workshop manual and the full code lists.

On my freelander I had an error which generic obd code lists suggested was egr valve error. The full error code (7digits) when listed in topix actually referred to the main throttle body as being the logged fault. Which is notably different from the generic suggestion.

The throttle, air flow, turbo and egr are all so closely linked that you really need the full error info. V8 or else ...
