Towed 'van today and once again in low gears and when pulling away the whining is back. Not a sound when solo, only when towing...

I always get slightly more noise when towing, there is more load etc going through the drivetrain than standard, specifically the tc has extra work to do overcoming the inertia of the van.

Mine had this, it was the pulleys and pre-tentioners for the Air Consystem, something was seizing and a plastic bearing melted |

I have a similar issue that still hasn't been sorted after numerous attempts. what was the fix for you? did you change a pre tensioner or pulley? |

I have to be honest Paul...I haven't tested your wife so can't comment on the whine...though with a V8 surely it's a moan

Hi, I cut the pretensioner and belt off, then fitted a replacement... if it's melted when the bearing has gone like mine had;

Bit trickier to get the belt on a tdv8, goes all over the shop, but i would reckon that the amount of load on the aux belt whild it varies under load slightly would not be affected by towing. Worth a check that all is running freely though, if its not it should be immediately apparent.
