You will need the antenna to pair, as the ULF will not have a bluetooth signal otherwise.

It should display "Telephone" in white on the screen without either though.

I've only been driving when the phones been used. Not remembered to ask a rear seat passenger if the speakers work. Definately at least the front ones. Can use the volume switches for the call etc. 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

I've just been and collected the antenna, cable and microphone from my local bmw dealers.
Plugged it all in, got the message "activate phone" and went through the pairing process. At first, the phone wouldn't connect. It paired, then the connection dropped. I kept trying to reconnect and it would pair for a couple of seconds then drop out. Only when I turned off the ignition and back on would it correct this.
It's now working properly and I'm chuffed! Got the phone book on the screen too.

I have the ulf with voice recognition. Is the button on the steering wheel meant to select via voice command?

Cheers Andy. I re-pinned it slightly to correspond with your chart- I think two wires were different to the chart I originally followed from L322.com.

I've just had another play with it. Just discovered the phone book also appears in the dash display too by selecting R/T on the wheel, and can be scrolled through using the steering wheel controls. I thought it was all done through the sat nav screen! I'm even more chuffed now!

I think the pairing button idea is worth doing so that I can pair additional phones in the future.

The last bit of the pairing procedure states to turn ignition off.

You will need to activate voice control on the Ulf. It was the main reason I got navcoder.

Voice control is good for shouting map for the GPS map display and I use it to shout "dial name" and it asks for the name and then dials without you having to take your hand off the wheel.

I did a thread about activating voice recognition on here somewhere......

I know nothing about Navcoder. For example, how do you connect to the vehicle?

Sorry, I'm not on my pc and have no idea how to cut and paste on a blackberry tablet.

There are threads on navcoder and cables.igot a BMW specific obd2 cable from the bay of e from BMW cables for about £25

Have a search, it does lots of stuff.

Needs a laptop with navcoder on and a BMW lead to the one connector

There may be other ways of activating voice, but that's what I did.

Just had a look at those cables and they look like my RSW solutions cable. Could I not use that with Navcoder?

My rsw cable didn't work, think that's specific to all comes

Can you not download like a trial of navcoder and try it ?

Where is the preferred point to mount the ULf? I've wedged it behind the black plastic box for now. Seems to be holding ok. The antenna sits nicely on the two bolts on top of the sat nav unit.

That's the correct place for the antenna.

My ulf is bolted vertically on the black plate at the bottom left of the boot as you are looking into the compartment.

There was one hole already in the plate, so I drilled another to mount it properly and trapped a rubber gromit behind it to stop it vibrating in case it ever did.

My ULF was mounted on the outside of the amp bracket. I had to remove the Amp & bracket, then drill a couple of holes in the bracket, mount the Amp & ULF before installing the bracket back in the vehicle.

The main wiring connections is at the top and the antenna connection is at the bottom, so best connect that before installing the bracket.

I have just painstakingly rewired my 54 pin connector, but am having trouble getting the ULF into pairing mode.

I have put a chocolate block connector on the wire going into pin 36, and the same on pin 32, and have put a wire between the two to try and get it to pair.

Nothing happens, and the screen just reads "Activate Phone". Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? Have spent all morning on this and am tearing my hair out now!

If you just put pin 32 to 36 nothing will happen. It needs to connect whilst 36 is still connected to the ULF and earth.

You are following the pairing procedure afterwards ? not just connecting them ?

When it says activate phone, it is looking for the phone already paired with it, ie the previous ulf owners mobile......
