I tried to wire in my reverse camera over the weekend, I've got a bmwnav lead with aux inputs etc that plus into the white wiring loom off the TV tuner

The instructions state that u have to fit a earth wire into pin 17 on the blue plug loom which I've done, when I earth the wire it cuts out the screen etc

The question is that that camera feed is rolling when connected, I've looked online and it suggests that it is a PAL & NTSC issue however my concern is the minute the earth is wired in it blanks the screen out so once wired in when I get a NTSC camera does that work off a earth fees so the camera will ways pull the live and switch on the earth??

Also can anyone advise if there is a better wiring harness I can fit that would use a PAL camera??

Sorry for all the questions but I found it strange that the earth is the switching point on this loom

Once you get the NTSC camera connected up you should see an image when you short pin 17 to earth.

As Winchester101 suggests, you need to then sort out the wiring from the gear lever so that when you go into reverse it opens the relay to short pin 17 to earth and show the reverse camera image.

A rolling camera feed indicates you have either a PAL camera or a PAL/NTSC camera.
I had the same symptom.
The problem is most sellers of reverse cameras don't know what they are selling they could be any format irrespective what they advertise.
For your car you definitely need a dedicated NTSC camera which surprisingly are not too readily available in the UK.
Took me 3 goes to get a dedicated NTSC camera.

Or of course you can use the PAL camera by changing the car to PAL using Navcoder and interface. 2003 4.4 V8 Vogue

When I purchased my RR the wiring was a mess, camera didn't work (although it was wired) spoke to Russel from Park My Autos he has fitters nationwide and pointed me in the direction of one. One day later and £40 my camera works!
