I had a heated wheel that was smooth. I was toying with buying the similar one to previous pics. one came up on ebay new, never fitted but wasn't heated. though how the wood might have 'heated' was unknown to me. but the one on offer was unheated.
I remembered the post regarding fitting flappy paddles shift. I wanted this as we tow a caravan. it's handy to be able to downshift a tad to slowly pass a lorry etc, without flooring etc. and to hold a better gear to fully pass etc. so I got it for just �160 I fitted it and the paddles.
they were about �80 I think this meant I couldn't fit all four chrome spokes if I wanted those. But I wasn't too impressed with the powerful ones of those anyway. so its on, with paddles. you cant (easily) fit the paddles and retain heated, on a heated car, but it can be done wirelessly. search forum for other posts on this. or I think youtube. its really nice. and as sometimes I have to drive with dirty hands for a little bit, I can grap the lacquered part and move said car out of way etc, with dirty hands, and not mess up the leather. I got the nappa version.
I believe you can also get suede. -which wouldn't last 10 mins with me! I also have blacked my foundry parts to match, and it does look 'grand'
they are nice wheels.
p.s if it was that cold, I would be wearing lined suede gloves already!

Sorry for bringing up this thread again, but since I have been looking for a new wooden stearing wheel for quite a while now, I have so far only found the ones of Powerful and some other ones offered on Ebay (which are from the same company btw, but they are using pictures of William Rau's steering wheels).

There is a big price difference between the ones for sale on Ebay and at Powerful (more or less around 1000 � or a bit more on Ebay and around 500 � the ones of Powerful). From what I have read from your replies, should I avoid buying at Powerful? I don't know how much Land Rover charges for a wooden stearing wheel, but I am pretty sure it will be very expensive...

As you have addressed the issue of the heated function not working properly, there would be no point in buying at Powerful then...correct?

Does anyone have a more detailed pic of the steering wheel with airbag removed and the back of the bag as I just can't fathom out what but I need to push on from the pics?

Took the wheel off in the end as the spokes are a right a55 to get off. It now all done with brand new LR black rubbery spokes as or OE!

Now what to do with the used ones... FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Nice, any close up details by any chance ? where the leather matched the woor, when the leather matches the 4 plastic "fingers" or "amrs" depending on how you want to call them.

Hey verydisco, sure, no problem at all, but you have to allow a couple of days in order to get my car back, its currently being serviced and some minor paint issues had to be corrected.

What I can tell you, is that the 4 arms, spokes, whatever are completely covered in leather. Nice detail, since these plastic spokes usually get a lot of scratches and look dreadful over the years.

I wanted to do a bit of work on mine, so with a tight budget I used a leather treatment and it made the wheel less shiny. I stripped the spokes and sprayed/laquered, I also stripped the button bezel and did them gloss black (Conor never did his but IF he get's another FF....he will) Here are the results;

This reminds me I have a set of New in Box piano black button surrounds/bezels for sale if anyone wants them

here's mine, I fitted paddles to the upper spokes, so I had to split the leather stitching on spokes to fit them in. meaning I couldn't have had chrome spokes on all four.
I also have covered my slightly scratched lower dashboard in some nicely grained leather, to black up the original dark grey to match the upper dash.

I had the same problem removing for the first time, second time around i used a 3mm dia kebab skewer cut down to about 10 inches length, this was the perfect dia to fit in and had the airbag off with 30secs.
