LED Bulbs

Has anyone changed the sidelights or any of the interior bulbs for LEDS?

I'm not talking about Chavtastic coloured bulbs, I mean the sidelights that match the xenons and the interior white bulbs.

Had them on the last few cars and they modernised them a little IMO. The rear number plate bulbs look particularly good in LED form.

I switched to LED Sidelights because one of the bulbs went, although they were advertised as "White" they have a bit too much of a blue tint for my liking, but were only £5.00 on eBay so I'll see if they grow on me, if not I'll change them again. i also need to edit the Light Control Module, apparently NavCoder can change the LCM settings so the bulb out warning doesnt keep coming up.

I did a search on 'navconder' and 'nav conder' and the WWW found nothing at all for either! Thats got to be a record in itself for such a short search string!! Who or what's NavConder then?

Thanks for that. Wasn't thinking it was a typo. One think now though, if ever anyone wanted to set up a company, they should call it Navconder and it'll always be at the top of any resulting search!!! Along with nothing else of course!!! Unusual these days.

I had LED's on my golf and ended up with the ones with built in resistors. These dont throw fault codes up.

Wasnt sure if the RR had the same 'bulb out' warning lights or not.

I think those look good Dan, Better than stock yellow tbh.

Anyone replaced courtesy lights ? The wing mirror path lights would look miles better LED. TDV8 HST Sport **Current**

Are they as bright as the standard ones? My experience of these bulbs has been that they are not.

LED's usually are brighter yes.

Anyone know which bulb size are fitted to the wing mirrors on 03 cars ? (for the path lights)

I'll order some in LED and see how they look. TDV8 HST Sport **Current**

I asked the question on PH as well:

Are THESE suitable replacements for sidelights in a 2003 FFRR?

Also, are there any suitable LED replacements for the remainder of the bulbs (indicators, tail lights, etc.)?

Do these things do the job then Ken? Lets face it - the standard sidelights are pants...

So what if they are 'pants'?

After all you are not supposed to drive on them.

Noddy, can you confirm or correct the following?

Sidelights are to be used when parked on an road, with no street lights and a speed limit above 30mph

Sidelight use as follows - from highway code:

The Highway Code Lighting requirements (113-116)113
You MUST

- Ensure all sidelights and rear registration plate lights are lit between sunset and sunrise
- Use headlights at night, except on a road which has lit street lighting. These roads are generally restricted to a speed limit of 30 mph (48 km/h) unless otherwise specified
- Use headlights when visibility is seriously reduced (see Rule 226)

*Night (the hours of darkness) is defined as the period between half an hour after sunset and half an hour before sunrise).

However, disregarding this... What if you wish to drive around with sidelights illuminated and not headlights - for example during the daytime?

Headlights are not always appropriate: the reason I say this is because motorcyclists are encouraged to use headlights at all times to be seen by other road users - but if everyone else cuts about on dipped headlights they run the risk of negating the purpose of motorcyclists using headlights.

So, as a compromise sidelights are also good to help other road users to see you (despite the fact you're in a breat big f*ck off 4x4, some people still need a little hint!!! Shocked ). It would help therefore if the sidelights were half decent, and not about as much use as a chocolate fireguard. The sidelights on my last car (Alfa 156) were OK incidentally...

Hope this puts my point across a little better than just saying 'pants' Thumbs Up
