TD6 starting problem

Hello all

My Range has never been the quickest starter,in summer 3 turns of the engine until she fires up,winter 5 turns.

My mates Range (same year) half a turn summer or winter.

Any way last week she failed to start (new Bosch battery last year) so on removing fuel pipe off filter next to engine and found no fuel i bought and fitted a high pressure fuel pump. Started first time.
On reading other similar topics on forum i also replaced fuel pressure relay.

This morning she would not start so got out my Hawkeye and fuel pressure control valve is at fault, so pls can some one tell me where is the fuel control valve situated, and is it made of gold and studded with diamonds hence costing billions of squids.

Any advice much appreciated.

Cheers Piers Thumbs Up

injector

I had the same problem ,but after a injector leak off check one injector was bleeding off so fuel pressure was too low and would not start.May be worth a check. Mercedes AMG w207

Had the same, ultimately turning on key for up to half a minute, 4 injectors later, like a different car. Not a cheap fix though !

Same happened with me. Dodgy injector. Try some injector cleaner first.

Thanks that sounds like sound advice, are we talking about a Diesel additive or is more technical ??

Would you credit it,its been starting fine for the past week but this morning as it was just a tad chillier and plenty of cranking but no firing.

Get a bottle of the forte stuff, then diagnostic check if symptoms persist.

Piers, it's all discussed here -> The Diesel Fuel System Cleaner Thread....

Forte comes well recommended and number one seems to be BG244. I used STP but that was just because of local availability, although it did cure a slight run on when the engine was turned off.
