He's talking rubbish. Mostly. The door locks (Access Control Systems as they were called when I worked for Rockwell who make most of them) tend to have fewer tumblers than the ignition - in the old style keys, the door locks would 2 or three tumblers and the ignition barrel would have 5 (or more). It's entirely down to the cutting I'm afraid - he's made a boo-boo and won't admit to it - in my book that's worse than being incompetent - as he's compounding his stupidity with lies. Probably all it needs is another run through the machine to clean up the edges of the slots. Have you tried the key both ways round, and pressing it down firmly before trying to turn it? |

Find somewhere else and see if they can just run the cutter along the same key (re-cutting it) to see if it's just because the first cutters cutting tool is worn and not exactly duplicating the original key. |

Im close to giving up and throwing it in the bin to be honest, I had no idea it would end up this difficult, the problems I had to start with in just finding a key cutter who would do it was totally unreal and this 1 guy was literally the only 1 I could find |

I was lucky - Timpsons said no, so I just spoke into my phone using Google - "Key Cutter near me" and the first bloke listed was 200 yds from me! Went in and he was a bit cautious as he'd had bad experiences with 'eBay" keys - told him I'd not hold him responsible and he did the job!
