Cider with Rangie

Spent Saturday making cider with friends in Herefordshire, the Rangie wafted us there and back in the usual manner Smile

England 2007 Range Rover Vogue SE TDV8 Stornoway Grey

Getting on with Brake refurb - callipers bead blasted, primed and painted today.
Replacement, rear discs/pads and parking brake shoes. (Thanks Duckworths, again) Thumbs Up
Should smarten things up a bit.
While it's been off the road and on a lift, I've re-painted the rear suspension arms and the exhaust back box. Also cleaned and re-painted / greased some of the brake lines that were looking a bit ropey, in particular the steel sections of the rear flexi's..

Had it, loved it!

Put winter tires on

Took my summer Nokian Z SUV 255/60 R18 112W XL off

Put on my Michelin Lattitude X-ICE North 255/60 R18 (these have studs, proper winter tires).

I would recommend the Nokian as very good, quiet, good wear and good grip.
The Michelin I would say are just good, They do not hold that well around corners, but braking, acceleration is good, but I think that is a lot to do with the weight of the car. My only comparison is a Audi A6 with usually Gislaved studded winter tires, these handle better in ice and snow.

What i would like and seem to be the best winter tires are Nokian Hakkapalita. But the cost about more and you should not drive crazy on ice and snow.

When I got the car i sold the Standard Goodyear all year tires, i just do not believe in these, they are neither good for summer nor winter, they were noisy and did not handle as well as the above. Costs are about the same as the tires last longer if you swap them every 6 months. I like the 18inch, as the whole point of the car is to have a softer ride, kids like it.

United Kingdom 2016 Range Rover Autobiography SDV8 Santorini Black

Checked that hunters had fixed the knocking on the rack when the rack was held and someone rocks the steering, then i can feel the knocking through the track rod.

Told them i thought it was the inner tie rod, the agreed, yet managed to swap the outer one! Big Cry

So it still knocks a bit. Better now the drop links are done.

Lower suspension arms are next.....will have a go at them in a couple of weeks methinks. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Yes, at the Mission Raceway, Mission BC. It's about an hour's drive (traffics gods allowing) east of Vancouver on the other (north) side of the Fraser river. I'll try for some pics later.

Bought a new washing machine, just slid it into the back of the car, folded rear seats forward and shut the tailgate. Love it. Also went for a nice belt down the motorway. Sunday drivers everywhere! This middle lane rule doesn't seem to be working! Anyhow, seem to have cured my radiator hose problem, sustained 3000rpm driving and all holding good. .

MY RR Day

Just picked up my Rangie from it's service, Is it just me or does it always feel like its running better/smoother or am I just trying to justify what I just spent on it ?

Changed my viscous fan hub (again) today. Only took 30 minutes as it's been off and on so much this last year, usually a nightmare to remove the first time!!
I changed it earlier this year with a non genuine part (can you see where this is going?...) It failed, now replaced with O.E. part from Hella.
The last one failed engaged so sounded like an aircraft propeller, noisey, over cooling etc. Lesson learned, buy genuine or O.E. and do the job once.
