Nope not yet, cant get out the office at the mo so instructed the OH to call and see if it was still there. Not heard back. Emailed the stratstone one and apparently they cant send it up, I would need to go to my local and ask them to put in a request for it to be transferred. I fail to see the difference Confused

What are your thoughts about changing the trim? I notice the expressway one has dark wood and I always preferred the piano black (according to my father and OH I am stupid to hold such an opinion). I'm sure I will like it better when I see it in person but I remember reading on here about someone changing their interior trim. Will need to have a search about for that thread. May be slightly premature to be seeking out mods when I am yet to view the vehicle Whistle

Plenty of choice with side vents.

The original SC style ones are popular.

Some (like me) swap them for the newer style with the 3 vents.

Have a search around the forum and you'll see there are lots of options Thumbs Up Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

First viewing....

Well popped over to Expressway on Saturday to view the Stornaway Grey VSE that they have for sale. Outcome of viewing noted below. All comments/ advice greatly welcomed!!!

This is the car-

http://www.expresswaycars.co.uk/used-cars/...9309032712

Exterior of the car is in good nick, there is a black 2 inch scuff on the front grill but that aside there was very little other wear and tear damage on the car which would be expected from a vehicle of this age. That being said, the weather wasnt ideal so would want so see it again when it was dry to see if there is any other visible damage.

The nearside rear and offside front wheel arch have small amount of 'bubbling'- it hasnt rusted through but I imagine that that will be the outcome if this is not addressed. No signs of rust/ bubbling around the rear tailgate. As this is just outside 6 year corrosion warranty is this something that should be addressed before selling the vehicle? Or is this a repair I would be expected to fork out for?

Interior is in good nick also, few hairline scuffs on rear seats but nothing out of the ordinary. Heated/ cooled seats work in front and rear heated seats work on both settings. With regards to reverse camera, it clicks on when reverse is engaged but when I put the car back into drive the camera didnt disable. Is this normal? To be fair, only put it into drive and rolled forward so dont know if camera would disable when vehicle was moving properly?

When I viewed the car is was tighly parked between two other vehicles so I asked the salesman to move it forward so I could look around it properly and more comfortably. He happily obliged, however about three minutes after he turned the car on, smoke began to come out the exhausts. At first this was just a small amount but after a minute of so it began to bellow out in thick plumes and this continued for another 2/3 minutes, after which it calmed down and then stopped altogether. Obviously this concerned me slightly as the smoke was excessive and the salesman also seemed slightly concerned, as much as he tried to brush it off explaining that it is a diesel vehicle after all (!)

I began to question the background of the vehicle and all I could get from him was that it one owner from new, bought at LR, fully serviced at LR and then traded back in to LR. I asked to see the service history to check that it was in order and he said he hadnt received it from LR yet. When I asked how long he has had the vehicle for he said about 3/ 4 weeks. Is it the norm for LR to sell off vehicles at what I imagine would be trade price to a third party garage rather than sell it as LR approved which I would have thought would have yielded greater profit on the vehicle? Or is this common for LR to sell off stock to third party gararges? That concerned me slightly as I would have thought that a vehicle in immaculate condition (as this was described) would attract a higher sales price at LR and would therefore make more sense for them to market it themselves? However if this is common practice I will stand corrected! Also, as I have not had sight of the SH myself I cant confirm that it is fully serviced at LR at the relevant intervals.

Basically the more probing questions I asked, the more uncomfortable he became. I think he saw a young(ish!) blonde girl and assumed he could charm me with the toys that the vehicle had and that I wouldnt question anything about where it came from etc. He finished up by saying that they hadnt really looked at the vehicle much but they would now take it out and give it the once over and try to figure out what was the cause of the smoke, and then call me and invite me down to drive it. He also said he would chase up the SH from LR so I could take a look at that.

So, what are your thoughts on this now? Should I run for the hills or persevere, look at the SH and drive it once they have given it the once over? I await your thoughts..... Bow down

Well from what you have described I would run for the hills. excessive smoke from cold is normally a sign of turbo or turbos failing. But I am sure there are others with better mechanical background that may comment also.

I know when I bought mine I was advised to check for the exact thing, ie making sure car had not been pre-warmed and look for excessive smoke from exhausts when cold.

I'm not sure about the smoke, bytthevcamera stays on for a few seconds after you start moving forward.

The apparent reluctance to discuss the Service history is a concern. I wonder why the selling dealer would pass a car on wouldn't ensure everything was in place before disposing of a car.

Certainly LR dealers have their pick of the crop when it comes to stock, so I wonder why they moved this one on? Do you know which LR dealer it came from, and give them a call? It's unusual in my experience for a Scottish dealer To have a car direct from LR, but nothing's impossible.

The other option would be to call LR customer service, who can point you to who carried out the service work.

I wouldn't be put off by buying from an independant, as both of my cars have been supplied by one, but if they don't know their product, make sure you get the car inspected and any issues rectified before you buy it. Thumbs Up Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue
