Any idea when it will be available to all?

We are delivering to Britpart in the coming weeks. They will require another couple of days to process and get the units out to the dealers.

Please do note, tho, we use bluetooth BLE - so only the latest generation of phones / tablets. And google has not yet released the Android API for BLE (code we need to interface with the BLE module on an Android phone).

So at the moment, only iOS: iPhone 4s/5, iPad mini / 3 / 4.

Samsung has released their own Android BLE API, so we may be able to do the Galaxy 3s and 4s in the near future.

Will the current module be phased out in preferance of the new BT module when its generally available?
If so will it be possible to get the older module at a discounted price to clear the older stock?

No phase-out planned. If no one purchases the non-BT IIDTool, tho, who knows.

Britpart dealers all make their own prices. If the non-BT IIDTools no longer sell and you wait a while, maybe some dealer will find one that has been sitting on his shelf for a very long time, dust it off and sell it to you for less.

Seriously, though, nothing like this is planned. The IIDTool is already a very good deal based on what it does.

Unfortunatly I couldnt find Britpart at Billing over the weekend, so will have to now buy one of these tools from one of their distributors.
As Steve say's above each distributer sets their own price for these tools. So can anyone suggest please what I should aim to pay for one ideally.

Hi Steve and all, thought it worth posting my query on here, the answers may be useful to others...

I have a transmission problem, so plugged in my IID tool to check for any DTCs etc, but when I scanned the transmission ECU, got the message 'no comms with ECU'. When I tried to do a 'clear all faults', the unit got to around ECU no 18 and then showed 'update failed' then carried on clearing faults.
Next problem, tried to look at CCF, gets the message.. Checking CCF.... Then ' cannot read CCF' comes up and it won't go further within that menu.

I have had a good look at the pins and connectors, all seem fine, as it mentions this in a previous post. Also I am using the tool with the handbrake off and the engine running, as recommended.

Last but not least, I have fitted new TPMS valves -gen new 2013 units- and am still getting the TPMS warning light, despite following the instructions regarding a number of attempts at the minimum running period to register the new valves. BUT again, when I look at the TPMS ECU with IID tool, it says ' lost comms with ECU'

That is not a long post - you should see some of mine!

Right off the bat - most systems come online when the key is turned to the 'Accy' postion (position I). Several ECUs only wake up when the key is in the 'Ignisiton on' position (II). It sounds as if you may have had the key in pos I. Please make sure you have the key in II (warning lights on or engine running)(not in an enclosed garage, tho ) and try again.

If, for any reason, the problem is still there, please send us a mail to Support at gap-diagnostic dotcm.

Steve, is it not better to discuss the problem/likely causes on the forum? Might save GAP some repeat emails if its something that all users should know and may come across in their future use?

Regarding my transmission problem, I intend to crawl underneath later, and check the plug connections/ loom etc around the 'box, as a starting point. When I had issues with door locks not responding, faults on door connections etc a month back, I found that the IID did not detect any faults. After investigating and finding numerous dodgy connections, I put the lack of fault detection on IId down to these poor contacts -i.e. the module is interrogated and found to have no faults stored, but the module has not detected a fault due to a poor connection further down the line. Correct me if I am wrong, but I assume this is how it can work?

So, in my tiny brain, I am thinking that this could be causing my current problems.

Re; the TPMS fault (again, lost comms) I have looked at the ECU, located in the rear RH cubby, it seems fine. I was hoping, forlornly, to find a plug removed or loose

Actually, while it is not bad to have the solutions to probs online, going back and forth with searches for issues can potentially clog the thread and make it unreadable for others. And aside from that, it is quicker for us to reply to mails. We all monitor the support and GAPTeam mail so we are all equally informed and see when one of us has already replied which saves redundant replies.

Yes, that is potentially a problem - though most major components in a system are checked for connectivity (similar to a light check) and if no connectivity is detected that in itself becomes a fault.

Diagnostic tool is a bit of a misnomer because diagnostic systems are fault code readers and actually do not do any real diagnostic testing on their own: all they do is deliver pre-defined fault codes from the various ECUs to the user. You only do real diagnostics when you manually move a stepper motor, turn on a light, etc. through the 'check component' functions (which the IIDTool can do).

Your problem does sound like a connectivity issue, but it is probably more simple than you are making it out to be. If the ECUs you mention all had no connectivity, your car would be immobile or at least running so poorly that you'd notice. It is likely a poor OBD connection or similar. We'll work through it with you.
