Max Aircon - No Aircon On RHS SOLVED!

Strange one this, when 'max aircon' is on there appears to be no chilled air coming from the vents on the RHS of the vehicle yet the LHS is fine.

Even the center vent has a distinct difference between the left and right side of it, have used IIDTool to confirm both left and right climate knobs are outputting the correct desired temp and that there are no other faults.

Gut instinct suggests a flap not moving as it should.

Anyone had this issue?

Gonna start with a regas - IIDTool is telling me the evaporator temp was 23 deg - presume this should be close to zero and gas pressure was 10 (presume this is in PSI) - tested on running system with max aircon on for 10 mins

If you have chilled air coming out of one set of vents it tends to suggest the cooling is working.
Might be worth measuring the temperature of the air coming out of the cold vents when on max setting.
Should get down to about 4C if cooling is operating correctly.

It's located behind the small grille on the upper facia panel.
Accessed as per vid below.

You need to measure right up against the grille, I use a probe thermometer pushed into the grille opening.
If it's not that cold you probably need the gas checked.

Thanks do you think an air gun blast may clean it without dismantling?

No I'm afraid not. The dirt tends to get compacted overtime and more or less has to be scrapped off.
A dry paint brush works ok.

IIDTool will give you a live reading from that sensor .... under 'cabin temp'

Had system regassed today by my local 'specialist' - now perfect, IIDTool reports pressure of around 15-16 so although it was low it wasn't too bad and most importantly the evaporator now shows 3.2 degrees.

Max aircon is now working perfectly and there is no noticeable difference between sides.

I have a theory, probably wrong tho but I'm guessing by looking at the diagrams of the system that the evaporator inlet may be on the LHS (looking from seats towards engine) and that the low refrigerant was expanding in the entry to the evaporator but only really being effective towards the LHS of it, perhaps the temp sensor was on the RHS of the evap and hence that's why the evap temp was showing high but airflow through the LHS was being chilled and the RHS wasn't.

I took the pollen filter out and checked out the RAM and Recirc flaps first as I thought 1 may be stuck but they were operating fine and the mechanic confirms the system was fine and only required a regas.
