I've already adjusted it, like I said it is perfect going back but nothing going fwd so I think something is actually wrong with it. OC someone may have just driven with the HB on in the past as the HB warning light switch is broken. |

Any idea how you adjust the handbrake? Mine currently only holds when it's right at the top of the ratchet. 2006 Mercedes CLS

Hi, yeah I did get the screw out no probs. I'm only on the front near side so far. Getting the caliper carrier off took an hour with a 2 foot bar on the ratchet handle moving one click at a time |

Have you tried an obscene amount of WD40 for a few hours and then trying?

Is there any chance of getting another jack into a sideways position where you could apply some force?

I tried penetrating oil overnight and a bit more this morning....
There's very little space in the wheel arch to get a jack or anything in there, one is limited by the fact you an only work on one small part of the disc as the rest is covered by the brake guard. That trick works for when the wheels are stuck on and you cant get them off, but the force from the wheels is held by the studs. I have to do this regularly to get the wheels off as I suffer chronically from this for some reason. To top it off my CV boot is leaking grease, which has then been flung all over the wheel arch. I'm covered in the stuff, and that hub grease is the worst kind ever! Seems you can only buy them as a pair = £40 ![]() So, I've stuck the new pads back in, slapped the wheels back on. I'll take it to the garage next week and get them to do it, but I guess I should buy some new pads as these will be mullered from my stepped discs. ![]() So for those who were expecting a detailed guide, here you go: ![]() ![]() |

hi dan, can you not take the hole hub off, removing the large nut[can check your bearings at the same time] then you would have the hub and disc in hand, may be able to apply heat better and then give it a good hammer..as you said your boot is leaking..

Unfortunately there is no hub nut left in there. It's flaked away to just a mess of crap. Nothing left to get a socket on etc. |

dan, i had a escort years ago that had the same prop with the nut, ended up welding an old socket to it and that worked great...but this seems to be getting away from the job you started V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.

dan, what about a half shaft puller, the slide hammer type, weld 2 big bolts to the disc and use the slde hammer.. V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.
