I've already adjusted it, like I said it is perfect going back but nothing going fwd so I think something is actually wrong with it. OC someone may have just driven with the HB on in the past as the HB warning light switch is broken.

Any idea how you adjust the handbrake? Mine currently only holds when it's right at the top of the ratchet. 2006 Mercedes CLS

I cant get the discs off!! They seem to be seazed on like Censored . I've tried various hammers, heat and penetrating oil.

Tomorrow I'm going to try and find a supersize hub puller type thing....

Dan,
Did you remove the little grub screw on the front face? (I'm not 100% if there is one on the L322, but there are on Freebies and P38's - they have cross heads).
They really shouldn't be seized on. Have you backed the handbrake adjusters off to ensure the internal shoes are not binding?

I'd be very cautious about using a puller because the discs are cast and won't like being stressed in that fashion.

I bought four discs and pads today so will be doing the same when I get a chance.. Confused

Hi, yeah I did get the screw out no probs. I'm only on the front near side so far. Getting the caliper carrier off took an hour with a 2 foot bar on the ratchet handle moving one click at a time Censored

The interweb says, cut a slit in it with an angle grinder, use a hub puller, use a sledge hammer (not enough room due to the brake guard otherwise I would have).

So, any suggestions as to how to get them off? I cant get a puller that will fit.

I'm loathed to cut it off, I'm getting to the point where I'm going to have to put them back together....

Have you tried an obscene amount of WD40 for a few hours and then trying?

I wanted to replace the discs and pads on my TD6 last year and faced similar issues trying to get the callipers off. I ended up booking it into the local indie garage and even they said the bolts were stupidly tight.

Cold comfort I know. Discovery 4 HSE

Is there any chance of getting another jack into a sideways position where you could apply some force?

Or I was once (but it could have been the village idiot) told to put the wheel back on loose and lower it down. The movement on the hub would then help split them.

Good luck.

There's very little space in the wheel arch to get a jack or anything in there, one is limited by the fact you an only work on one small part of the disc as the rest is covered by the brake guard.

That trick works for when the wheels are stuck on and you cant get them off, but the force from the wheels is held by the studs. I have to do this regularly to get the wheels off as I suffer chronically from this for some reason.

To top it off my CV boot is leaking grease, which has then been flung all over the wheel arch. I'm covered in the stuff, and that hub grease is the worst kind ever! Seems you can only buy them as a pair = £40 Sad

So, I've stuck the new pads back in, slapped the wheels back on. I'll take it to the garage next week and get them to do it, but I guess I should buy some new pads as these will be mullered from my stepped discs. Censored

So for those who were expecting a detailed guide, here you go:

hi dan, can you not take the hole hub off, removing the large nut[can check your bearings at the same time] then you would have the hub and disc in hand, may be able to apply heat better and then give it a good hammer..as you said your boot is leaking..

Unfortunately there is no hub nut left in there. It's flaked away to just a mess of crap. Nothing left to get a socket on etc.

dan, i had a escort years ago that had the same prop with the nut, ended up welding an old socket to it and that worked great...but this seems to be getting away from the job you started V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.
