flip keys (new order started)

Ok, after a several request for the flip keys I am going to place a new order for some flip keys,
These can be used on the early cars fitted with the bmw style key.

These keys come with the fat style blades; they are auto charging and have the electrics inside to allow you to code them to your central locking.

You will have to use your transponder chip from your old key in order to start your car.

I can program new transponder chips for the range rover but you will need to remove your EWS unit that sits inside your centre console

The good thing is that the suppliers now will give me a 6 month warranty on the keys,

the keys work out to around 37.50 each with shipping and duty, there is now two styles, style one is the original land rover flip as used on the 07 and on and the other is similar to the 2012 keyless entry key but has the flip key and is not keyless V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.

I'd be interested in 1
Only issue I can forsee tho is the numbering of the keys (1-4) and any possible conflict.

Will you have any pics of the 2012 style key?

Just let me know the timescales involved and when you want the coin sending.

Thanks

I'd be interested in one.

So, can you explain what you mean by removing the EWS module to use the key to start the car? What will a main dealer charge as I actually need a spare key, not a replacement. 2006 FFRR 4.2 Supercharged Vogue SE

I have the 2 original late BMW style keys on an early interior facelift car .... I only want 1 key converting as the mrs says her key is fine as is but IIRC the keys are coded 1,2,3 and 4 and you cant have 2 of the same number on the system.

Suppose it wont matter even if it is the same number as one of my existing ones tho just potentially could cause an issue if 2 are wanted and are supplied as the same number.

katash, you would use the new key and take the transponder chip out of the old key and put it in the new one, as far as keys 1 2 3 4 nothing will change... V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.

the EWS unit is what holds all the info about your keys, you need to remove this module so it can be read on the pc, then from that file you can write new keys. the main dealer will not do this for you or even talk about it.. V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.

Right.
So if I wanted one of your keys as a spare, you would be able to do the coding for me if I come to you?
I only got the one key with my Rangie and I'm terrified I'll lose it.

I was going to go to LR and just drop the £££ on a new key based on my VIN etc. but if there's a cheaper way...... 2006 FFRR 4.2 Supercharged Vogue SE

Yep the transponder will need to be switched over but the numbering of keys (1,2,3 or 4) is hard coded into the keyfob not the chip - IIRC its how the car determines the users settings on unlock (seat & mirror position etc ...) My situation (1 key replacement) should be easy to work out if there is a conflict but for anyone who orders 2 - there is a potential that the numbering will be the same and since its not possible to have for example 2 x 'number 2' keys mean only 1 of the new keys will pair.

the key number is within the chip, the ewes see's the code coming from your chip and knows what key you are using it will then roll the code on that key, the second part is the circuit board with in the key, this is to open and close your doors, this can be programmed by yourself and is not hard at all but when programming a new key to the car you will need to do all your keys in the same session , yes if I was coding a new key I have up to 10 key positions to chose from, the first 4 are taken by land rover and kept on record, this is how they supply a key without removing your EWS, I can also read your working key and it would tell me what key number it was and this is done so you don’t knock out working keys, land rover will ask you what key you want and if you order the wrong one they will not refund you. V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.
