Yes I feel for you there mate Evil or Very Mad but I do think that using fuel that would invalidate a warranty may have had something to do with the major injector problems you had/having...

PS: Pretty unusual for one person to have had two new technology TDV8 engines die on them - bit like winning the lottery but the other way around.... Shocked

So, if one were to purchase an '07-onwards FF and keep it for 3 years, the most reliable would be either of the TDV8 variants?

What about servicing costs? Does the greater TDV8 reliability also transmit to lower maintenance costs as well? Si. <This is my name.

as with anywhere people will always make more noise when something isnt working rather than when it is but the later 3.6 TDV8's seem to be better with less issues.

The fuelling issue is a no go as anyone who fuels up in the UK is using at LEAST 5% BioD anyway, sometimes more depending on the batch and so forth. Running 100% BioD isn't a problem as long as its good BioD, just like diesel and petrol you dont want cack and there are enough incidences of contaminated fuel to show its not just a BioD issue Smile FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

I know and if any one of them would have been a VSE, we'd have met by now. Si. <This is my name.

Oh yes I remember now!

Remember that there is more choice with Vogues so a greater number of good ones available and some have RSE like two black ones of mine Whistle

My feeling the SC is pretty bulletproof and so the AJV8 NA will also be pretty solid I guess. The BMW seems to be a little less solid, considering at least three people on here are having to rebuild their engine or replace it.

That could well be because the oldest BMW engines are now 11 years old and are likely to have covered a considerable mileage.
See how the SC fares when it's of a similar age and mileage. Whistle

I can't speak to the diesels, as we don't get them here. Big Cry

The Jaguar engines seem to be more robust than the BMWs. SC vs NA? I don't know. Obviously the SC has more parts, therefore, more parts to break, but I haven't heard of any breaking.

I've only had a high miler SC and it never missed a beat in the year I had it...

I've also owned the 4.2 SC in xkr form and was similarly robust...

The twin turbo diesels scare me a little when high mileage looms with turbo failure and dpf issues possibilities...I've not owned the tdv8 but had a loan vehicle for a while...great cars. Owned all the 35d BMW engines though...with one dpf issue Range Rover SC 35th Anniversary 2006

Turbos die in 80k miles. Superchargers need a new rubber belt, and an oil change simply adds power.

DPF's can be deleted but only after a certain age have them anyway.

Turbo failure is just as likely as supercharger failure....
