We have talked about it and I understand her reasoning.
She is a very outdoor type person, hill walking, mountain biking etc etc.. She has always had a 4x4.
She loves the fattie and says it is the best car she has ever had... And that is the problem, it is too good.
She can't just open the doors and throw stuff in, she is worried about marking the leather on the seats, or muddying the carpets. She needs to get the bikes on the back, but there is no tow bar. She worries about parking it, incase it gets bumped by a numpty opening their doors. Whenever people get in the back seats I always tell them to not slide in/out and use the sidesteps and that is not what she wants from an everyday car.... It really is our Sunday car!
Today was the first time in 2 weeks that we have been out in it.
She wants a Nissan navara double cab. So we have started looking and seen quite a few hopefuls online already.
Will try and buy one in the next few weeks to keep her happy..
So do I keep the FFRR as my weekend toy or sell it and buy the 997 I have wanted for a while?
I can't justify having 5 or 6 cars.
I really am 50/50 just now. She is quite happy for me to keep the FFRR, she just doesn't want to use it.

Fit a tow bar and chill out.

Sounds like the FFRR is the right car if you can relax and enjoy it rather than worrying about keeping it pristine

Sell the Td6 and get the 5 litre supercharged full fat for the weekend!

In my experience, the kind of person that worries about keeping a really nice car at its best, rarely gives up the habit in a not-so-nice car.

If you've got to keep/maintain/fuss over a car, may as well be one you love. Researching my first Range Rover purchase

Buy a supercharged FFRR

Or keep the perfectly good one you have.

I decided to use mine for whatever I needed, it's a car and we can all (I can!) get a bit too precious about them! So I decided to do just that, wet muddy dog in the back, enduro bike on the tow bar, towing car trailers, etc etc....

...and then I noticed all the little marks which were happening and thought about having to get those sorted, and/or resale value......

.....so I bought an old V8 Defender to do all the grot work! And kept the FFRR!

The Nissan Navara is a done deal.
The dilemma is do I keep the Fattie for the weekends or chop it for a 997? Previously..

The FFRR really should be an everyday car that you can do everything in.

If its just for weekends, get whatever your heart wants

Go for the S/C, take you time to get a really nice one and then let Craig turn it into a brilliant looking one (just look at Gaz. latest one). A 997 is not half as comfortable as a FFRR and unless you are going to do track days with it I doubt whether you can really have that much fun as an FF. At least in the FF you can go greenlaning and offroading as well as blasting on the road. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

You need:
-Seat Covers
-A towbar kit
-Door protection bars

Surely that would still work as her car?

If not then you should keep it: they are such useful cars... depends what else is on the fleet atm tho
