In South Africa they are marketing a see through foil that is supposed to give excellent protection to the paintwork but can be removed easily. The company (and product ??) is called VPS, you see it a lot in the 4x4 magazines and Top Gear SA etc. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

I really really would avoid the navara! An ex neighbour had one and it was repeatedly in the dealer for bits falling off Sad

Where I used to work the engineers had them for rote site access. They hated them. Too noisey for any motorway trips, engines were shockingly thirsty and noisy and they didn't like them offroad as much as a similar 110.

Get a rigid load liner ontop of a full boot liner and seat covers and a tow bar and be some with it.

She will regret it and being a woman will biatch an moan about it and blame you for it in some way.

Tell her she can get one and you'll keep the ff.

Maybe but her a cheap crv or rav4 basic spec for peanuts and run it into the ground Thumbs Up FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Funny enough I'm going the other way! Selling my D2 and looking for a FFRR. I now don't need a car to chuck all my crap in, which the D2 was perfect for, and want some plushness in my life!

Re: navara

Wow, if the Defender is preferable on the motorway, that's one nasty car! Mr. Green

I think the Defender has an an excuse due to its off road capabilities (just like a Lamborghini is allowed to gave poor ground clearance). Thumbs Up If the Navara is poor off road and on, what good is it? Shocked It's not sold here, so I know nothing about it apart from what was posted above.

I'd suggest the bike tow rack and a good set of seat covers and mats Thumbs Up

That's just the thing though isn't it? If you have a pick-up truck you'd get a sports car.

Funny because I considered a 4 seat pickup instead of the RR when I bought it. Chose the RR in the end because it does comfort and refinement as well as load lugging. Very pleased with the decision I made. Mine's 10 years old and +110k, so I don't have to be too precious with it.

Does she have a sister.... Razz

Honestly mate, if my missus treated my old motor like that I'd be more than chuffed...

I lost count of the cringworthy moments I had with mine treating it like a focus estate....

Any other 4x4 is nasty compared to the FFRR I suppose. We have a couple of hatchbacks, an estate car and the FFRR.
Motorways is not something the navara would be used for. Only for her work, 6.5 miles away, and for leisure activities with the bikes. We have missed not having a trailer, so the flat bed of a double cab would be handy again for skip runs etc.
We had a brilliant 110 double cab some years ago and found it really useful. But as much as I think defenders are one of the most iconic cars in the world I was never really a fan of the safety aspect of them.. No airbags etc.
So, as much as some may think navaras are poor, it's being bought for a purpose, not a family car.
Anyway, it would be hers.... Not my problem.. Laughing

Ps.... Pre August 2006 navara engines are worse than FFRR gearboxes for reliability. A high percentage shove conrods through the block. Dodgy big end bolts and shells. Previously..

If you want a 997, get one. I had a 997 C2S with full aerokit and I miss it like mad. In fact, I'm thinking about getting rid of the FF and getting another one (this time a Gen 2 with PDK 'box). Actually, I think I may end up scratching the DB9 itch I've had for a few years.

Anyway...I love my FF and in many ways it's the best car I've ever owned but I don't need to tell you it's nothing like a 911. Like chalk and cheese. Just depends what you want it for.

I've never enjoyed chalk sandwiches and cheddar is crap for writing on blackboards.... Past (too many to list, but a few favs)...

It breaks my heart thinking about that car. It was an early one (2005) but my engine blew up a month into my ownership and was replaced by Porsche GB under warranty. So I sold it with 65k on the clock but it actually had a brand new engine, run in, but less than 2,000 miles on it guaranteed by Porsche for 2 years, it had the sports exhaust, iPod, phone, etc. I got £27,500 for it. Can't find anything anywhere near as nice for that kind of money now. Why the Censored did I let it go?! Big Cry Banging Head Past (too many to list, but a few favs)...

The navara is an awful car, you would never be able to have it over a full fat. I bought my ffrr for similar reasons to yourself and got an older one so that I can get it dirty and not care too much about it, I intend to buy another newer one as the 'nice' car. The ffrr is one of then best cars in the world, you should sell one of your other cars then have the ffrr and the Porsche and have your cake and eat it!
